Week 15 thoughts ...*NBA edition*

I guess the return game played a bigger role than usual this week.



**LOL@ blaming Dodge...hell I still dont even blame the Giants.
I still blame the NFL and Goodell for the disgusting rules and refereeing going on.
Dal, NYG , and Bal all lost huge close to or over 20 point leads.
All 3 of those teams are stocked with PB level defensive talent , especially the front 7.
I saw 3 scoring drives kept alive on "grazing" calls , and incidental contact down field flagged for PI. All 3 drives resulted in scores that kept the losing team in the game.
Im ALL for parity. I love the level playing field..but I want it because of salary and financial discrepancy. Once the game starts Players and coaches should be the only ones affecting the outcome of the game.
But its not.
I dont care about being called "raawwrr i miss toughness" guy. People who are for these rule changes , 18 game seasons etc are just flat out missing the point. Your putting the game into the hands of those not in uniform and not wearing a headset.
Sept/Oct look utterly meaningless. Now more and more..the first and 2nd quarter are becoming meaningless. We really arent that far off from the day when its only worth tuning in to the last 2-3 weeks , and tuning into the 4th quarter means you really havent missed much.
Reminds me way too much of the NBA.

Actually I HAAATEEE Desean Jackson. But theres been a complete and utter lack of compelling players or stories this year. Desean Jackson is easily a "I want to spit on him" player who in back to back weeks made huge plays cracking the back of divisional rivals.
I just wish NFL allowed more "player we love to hate" on defense.

**Bill Bellichek is the best coach Ive ever seen. Something always makes me hesitate in saying that. This era makes it too easy to survive on just a QB. But as his offspring fail miserably in other cities , and as he continues to make winning teams out of other peoples cast offs. I cant help but wonder how the Giants didnt win more than 2 sbs with him and Parcells.
I used to think it was the Steelers...but the NE front office down to coaching staff is the best in football.
Brady gets all the love...but as we've seen before theyd be doing just about as good with Matt Cassell or some other run off at the helm. Belly is just that good.

That return was all kinds of awesome. Big man rumbling. Even better that I have thusfar managed to avoid hearing Chris Berman's call on the highlight. I'm sure he really pours on the annoying for this one.

The only thought I have to add is how fun it is watching defenders bounce off of Michael Turner in the 4th quarter. It's like you can visibly see the defense's unwillingness to get in his way.

The Steelers/Jets game had some brutal officiating. Between the refs not knowing what down it was to the refs not seeing a blatant push by Revis and a blatant hold by Cromartie (that would have likely ended in a TD), those are the 3 or 4 main instances I can remember. It's deplorable.

And that's the only game I watched this weekend. So in one game, christ, that's bad.

How are you Packers fans doing this morning?

Better than you'd think. The most important game for us yesterday wasn't our own. With the Eagles amazing comeback, and the Lions beating the Bucs, we now have control of our own destiny.

To win the division: Bears need to lose to the Jets and we need to beat them in week 17.

To win the wildcard: We need to beat the Giants next week (I'll be at the game in Lambeau) and either beat the Bears or have another Giants loss.

Overall pretty damn happy about those two games. Both of the last two games are in Lambeau too so that will be very nice.

Few thoughts from the Colts game yesterday.

-- The Colts looked like a very, very strong team yesterday. The score was not, in the very least, indicative of how well the Colts played.

-- The back judge from the game missed at least 4 calls, all directly affecting the Colts. Regardless of that, when he did make calls, he often hesitated before throwing the flag.

-- lol @ Colts fans going crazy about how Caldwell called the T/O right before the onside kick attempt. He did what a lot of normal coaches would have done, does that make him better/worse? Meh.

-- That said, Caldwell is not the type of coach I want any longer in Indianapolis. He is not bad, but he is not good, and while Manning is under center, I think you build everything you have around him, because you're only going to get that HOF level production for a few more years.

-- This team could be dangeous if Addai comes back. Brown played excellent yesterday, I'm hoping that's a sign of the run game to come.

Actually no. 90% of Green Bay were expecting to get dominated. There wasn't a person I talked to expecting to even stay close in that game. Our reaction was......."so close."

It was a great effort from Flynn and the boys. Can't be mad about losing that game.

My theory, which I brought up in the chatbox, is that Flynn held up four fingers to indicate that it was 4th down, which leads me to believe someone called for him to clock it. Other theories feel that four fingers was a certain play call and he was just confirming whether or not to run that play...

I think the coaches are to blame for the shit show at the end, but a lot of people think it's on Flynn.

That killed our momentum....yea.

We dominated this game, but the Patriots found a way to win. We had some dropped interceptions that should have been easy catches, and we had special teams issues.

That play isn't what lost us the game though. Sure as hell didn't help any, but I think it was too early in the game for many Packers fans to truly believe they might have a shot of winning. A lot of people I talked to weren't really believers until driving in the final minutes.

It was 100% the coaches fault for the shitty clock management at the end of that game. When they called the timeout right after the 2nd down sack, they had plenty of time to put in two plays in case the 3rd down play was short and downed in the field of play.

Flynn can't be faulted for basically outplaying Tom Brady on the road. I was one of the people that felt like the Packers would get blown out without Aaron Rodgers but Flynn kept them right in the game and they had a chance to win it at the end.

That was some GOD AWFUL clock management. Its been awhile since Ive seen it that bad. The worthless and meaningless timeout with 1:06 did them in. There was no point in calling it at that point. There is a reason that a large and growing number of Packers fans think that the Packers win some games in spite of their coaching but rarely because of it.

i never said anything about that the being the play of the game or whether that lost the game for the packers, just that most normal fans (and i realize packer fans aren't normal) would say "you gotta be kidding me" when a RIGHT GUARD takes a kick off back for 71 yards, which should never be allowed by a professional team

you can sit here and say "well we never believed we were going to win anyway" all you want, most fans would be sick to their stomachs watching that play unfold against their team
