Week 15 thoughts ...*NBA edition*

Of course it made me sick. I just don't really know what else I can say about it. It sucked.....now we move on.

Better than you'd think. The most important game for us yesterday wasn't our own. With the Eagles amazing comeback, and the Lions beating the Bucs, we now have control of our own destiny.

To win the division: Bears need to lose to the Jets and we need to beat them in week 17.

To win the wildcard: We need to beat the Giants next week (I'll be at the game in Lambeau) and either beat the Bears or have another Giants loss.

Overall pretty damn happy about those two games. Both of the last two games are in Lambeau too so that will be very nice.

There is a reason that a large and growing number of Packers fans think that the Packers win some games in spite of their coaching but rarely because of it.

Ive heard that...but never really saw a good example of it as I dont watch many of there games...but wow...if thats anything but an anomaly yikes.

And though I know some Packer fans will disagree with me on this, but I'm happy with the effort Green Bay played with for most of the game (save for the last minute of course) and I think we can take that momentum into our next game, as opposed to New York who is probably shell shocked from blowing a 21 point lead with 8 minutes left.

Can't see anyone really disagreeing with that. We had a great effort despite coaching errors. Next week should be an amazing game and I can't wait to tailgate and be there. I got 50 yard line, row 8 for $125.

I really wish Jim Schwartz was still with the Titans organization.

He's an interesting guy. On the sideline he's extremely animated and always trying to defend his team yet in press conferences he's really apathetic it seems. He doesn't want to offend anyone, kind of odd. So far I guess you could say I'm a fan of Schwartz, he's gotten some nice late season wins out of this team, using our 3rd string QB. I think the whole team actually believes in him and his way of doing things. We're still aways from being a consistently good team and even if we get those pieces, if Stafford can't stay healthy, we're probably screwed.

And as amazing as this may sound, we're 13th in pass defense right now. This is a definite by product of us being tied for 6th in the league with 39 sacks this season. I definitely believe Schwartz putting emphasis on d-line play is the reason for all this...and obviously the stellar play of anyone who gets down in a three/four point stance.

The officiating seems to be getting worse every year. The Chiefs had to burn their 2nd challenge on a called catch on the field that was clearly a trap. I saw the ball hit the ground from my ass in a recliner on the live play...I have no idea what the refs were watching.

Jamaal Charles is a flat out beast and should be talked about more. He's now averaging 6.4 yards per carry, which is some Jim Brown shit. He also averages almost 11 yards a catch. He's arguably been the best running back in the league since he took over for Larry Johnson last year.

Rams fans, how has Jason Smith looked this year? He struggled against KC, but that's the first time I've seen the Rams.

I loved seeing all the red in St. Louis...and it wasn't Cardinals gear. Rams fans should be embarrassed. I heard the tomahawk chop at the end of the game. That was awesome.

Bradford is gonna be a good one. My dad was really impressed by his accuracy.

I was surprised that Steven Jackson didn't go off on the Chiefs. I was worried about that going into the game.

I'm really starting to love Matt Cassel. I didn't think he was that good, but he's very likable. He showed tremendous toughness playing the way he did a week after his appendectomy. I like his fiery attitude. I'm still skeptical that he can lead the Chiefs to a playoff win, but I will be rooting my heart out for him.

Few thoughts from the Colts game yesterday.

-- The Colts looked like a very, very strong team yesterday. The score was not, in the very least, indicative of how well the Colts played.

-- The back judge from the game missed at least 4 calls, all directly affecting the Colts. Regardless of that, when he did make calls, he often hesitated before throwing the flag.

-- lol @ Colts fans going crazy about how Caldwell called the T/O right before the onside kick attempt. He did what a lot of normal coaches would have done, does that make him better/worse? Meh.

-- That said, Caldwell is not the type of coach I want any longer in Indianapolis. He is not bad, but he is not good, and while Manning is under center, I think you build everything you have around him, because you're only going to get that HOF level production for a few more years.

-- This team could be dangeous if Addai comes back. Brown played excellent yesterday, I'm hoping that's a sign of the run game to come.

That TO call was one of the few times I've seen Caldwell make a really good decision all year. Still not a fan though.

Indy did look good yesterday but I hate how the defense has to be backed into a corner before they ever put a solid game together. Makes me think that the coaching/motivation is severely lacking on that side of the ball. I'm not sure who is to blame for it either.

I don't think Indy is going to do much this season though. Indy putting Gonzales (who is healthy now) on IR looks worse every day. They need Addai/another WR/and sustained effort on D.

I was surprised that Steven Jackson didn't go off on the Chiefs. I was worried about that going into the game.

the thing with Jackson is not that he cant get the yards, but that our line just isnt capable of giving him enough room to get the yards without him doing something spectacular

*Colts-Jags: Jags didn't really play that well, but had the game in hand and let it slip away. They were greatly aided by a bizarre punt return in which a fair catch was kind of signaled, but the returner ran for a TD when the Colts pulled up. I know in college you cannot "simulate" a fair-catch signal, and I assumed it was also true in the NFL, but who knows. Mike Carey's crew blew about 4 major calls all in succession, so it was a credit to the Colts that they pulled it out.

*Eagles-Giants: what can you say? In Super Bowl X, Chuck Noll of the Steelers chose to run the ball on 4th down at the end of the game instead of risking a punt where a block or a long return could take place. He was criticized for his decision, but perhaps Coughlin should have done the same thing.

*Jets-Steelers: the refs kind of gave up calling pass interference midway through the game, and the Jets were able to get away with murder. Their defense isn't nearly as good as it was last year. They are missing Jim Leonhard, but they also aren't getting much of a pass rush and their CB's are getting killed when they play press coverage. The Steelers were getting past Revis and Cromartie on nearly every play, yet the holding and grabbing downfield negated their advantage. But in the end, the Steelers defense let the awful Mark Sanchez get out of too many 3rd down jams. The Jets are kind of like the AFC-version of the Bears...they don't really do much but win.

Packers-Pats: I thought McCarthy blew the game on that last drive. No hurry-up, odd use of timeouts, blown last play. The Packers were gouging the Pats on the ground, getting 5-10 yards on every carry. Wilfork was gassed. The Packers got the ball at the 40 with over 4 minutes left...all they had to do was run the ball every play and go up-tempo. They would have walked into the endzone eventually and given Brady no time to come back. Instead, they dicked around, tried passing the ball on every play, and ran a minimal number of plays. McCarthy is a terrible coach.

Teams are as scared to run the ball as teams used to be to pass when time was running out.
Its odd behavior that alot of coaches are showing. I just cant figure out if they dont trust the OL/Backs...or they just love the passing chapter of there playbook.:wub:
