You need an "advanced" driver to make your sweet spot % 15-20.

With this percentage, drives will become a real challenge ... and you won't set course records for fairways hit.

Yup. That's what it is default.
If you want a real challenge, you will get an advanced driver and lower it.

There isn't much that you can do in Tiger to cheat but one of those would be chipping on the greens, which isn't allowed. This really shouldn't be a problem just though I would mention it.

How many times have you seen people chip on greens in real golf? Never.

Its way too easy to just use a lob wedge from like 70 feet away, we aren't allowing it.

certainly your regular golf club wouldn't want you chipping on their greens. i've seen lehman and mickelson do it before...

i don't really care, if you want to outlaw it that's fine... but it is legal

i dont chip on the green.....actually i rarely ever chip at all anywhere

but on the green, if im 70 some yards away i do pitch or flop if i can......is this against the rules for us too?

for further reference, I hit MS Paint and drew a little picture (yes I know, strong Paint skills... sike)

from the Red X's, you could not chip. from the white ones, it would be okay to chip because there is NO WAY a putt could roll to the pin without going into the rough, fringe, or bunker.

NOTE: the arrows are the direction of the break. if the putt were breaking hard from left to right, the left white X would then be red (no chip), because you could ride the break around the rough, and get the ball to the hole without it being impeded by any longer grass.

I'd say so. Flops are easy peasy to land unless there's hella wind.

Well if you are playing in groups you can normally see if someone chips from the green, if not fine. This league has a few things that require self-policing, some people are cheaters, they will find a way to cheat no matter what, but the rest of us will follow the rules on our honor.

Also since I think that XBL is still down the deadline for this tournament has been extended to tomorrow at 11pm EST for all players.

Alright, I have been reading the boards as much as I can to acclimate myself to the rules and such since this is the first TW game I have bought, and thus the first time I have done the online tourney with it.

My golfer sucks right now, but I think I am going to give it a go tonight if the tourney is still happening and I can pair with someone.

I have the crappy clubs still, so does that mean I can't mess with my sweet spot? Is it required that our sweet spots be turned town like a lot of the other people are doing here? Are you guys doing it because it makes it more sim and you want a challenge or we all have to do it?

Also, if it isn't required, why would some people do it and others not? It seems to me like it would give the people who keep their sweet spot higher an unfair advantage over the people that don't.

But also, for golfers like me, who got the game a bit later, and haven't really gotten their skill level up and are still driving 230 yards on average perhaps it levels the playing field a bit. I dunno, just wanted to get you guys' thoughts.

first off... its acclimate, not accumulate (lol, sorry I had to point that out).

I believe you can hit club tuner and toy with the sweetspot even with beginner sticks... you just have have more in depth abilities to customize the expert level clubs. don't worry about your golfers attributes not being very high, just keep doing tour events and challenges, and they will rise.

no, it is not required that the sweetspot is turned down. its just what some of us to to make the game a bit more challenging... plus, they are benefits to turning it down, and when you swing consistently, having a smaller sweet spot doesn't really matter.

at this point, all you can do is just keep playing and building your character. you will get better as you go along. I haven't played/owned a Tiger Woods game since 2005, so you will be fine.

Thanks, it's too early, and I'm an idiot. Anyways, OK cool. I will keep building up my guys stats, earn more money so I can buy he better clubs, then I will mess with the sweet spot. For now I am going to leave as is.

also wondering if the conditions are going to vary round-to-round, or if I should just go in ahead of time and memorize all the pins, etc.
