Fuck that i'd rather be a sure-fire Hall of Famer that will have his name enshrined with the best basketball players in world for pretty much eternity and known by all as one of the best players at his position.

10-15 years from now nobody will care about Fisher he'll barely be remembered instead Shaq and Kobe will be heralded. He'll get some highlight video pub. but that's about it.

Give me Karl Malone.

He was still one of the most successful players of his time and will go down as one of the best 2-3 guys at his position EVER. Hall of Fame, etc.

Its all a matter of opinion.. not everyone wants the accolades aslong as they can have the Ships. Its not like Fisher was the last guy off the bench either.. hes hit tons of clutch shots that have helped his teams earn championships. Malone is always going to be remembered for NOT winning any ships. I certainly wouldnt complain about having Malone's career.. but id rather be a little less low key, hit a ton of big shots, and have 4 rings.

Is he though? I doubt most people are going to care when he has a place in the basketball hall of fame. He's remembered by most as one of the better PF of all-time and the top PF in the 90s.

I think people will also realize (and this applies to Stockton, Barkley, Miller, Ewing) that the greatest player of all-time pretty much prevented any of those guys from getting their titles, so I think in the end it'll be kind of irrelevant.

We're talking an era of Malone where it began with Magic/Bird and ended with the greatest basketball player EVER Michael Jordan and those three dudes straight up hogged titles winning about 60-70% of the titles in the era of Malone.

Winning a championship in the sport you play has to be the greatest feeling in the world. I havent won one in years and they were few and far between, but that shit just feels amazing. To feel that 4 times.. and be a vital part in those runs, thats huge IMO. Im not taking anything away from Karl Malone.. but id be okay with not being remembered as one of the greatest ever if it meant I had 4 titles.

People play sports to win championships....I'm not saying Fisher is better than Malone. Malone is one of the greatest in history, but you play to win championships and that's what Fisher has done. At the end of the day it's all about Championships and Fisher got 4 and I don't think the lakers of this era would have more than 2 without him. He hit a big shot with .4 seconds to change the Spurs series a while back and hit a huge 3 to force overtime in the magic series. The lakers Magic series could have easily gone either way with a few different plays and howard making some freethrows. Fisher was an important piece to the lakers championship runs

Yeah it's completely fucking stupid to be CHAMPIONSHIP or nothing. I hate that stuff. Malone did just about everything he could to win a title, he just happened to be playing in the same era with the greatest person to ever grace a basketball court.

While I think the NBA is one of the only leagues where an individual can play a HUGE part in his team winning a title, it's stupid to put guys down who haven't won a title.

We're comparing a 4th option that hit a few clutch shots and rode the coattails of two superstar players. Yeah, rings are important... but I'd say getting enshrined in the Hall of Fame and actually being remembered 15 years after your career is over is something special as well. Yeah, a championship is an ultimate accomplishment, but there's something to be said for being one of the few people to be put into the Hall of Fame in your respective sport.
