What is considered cheesy in NHL 11?

I havent really played against anyone in a hockey game since NHL 94 on genesis. I had 05 on ps2 but just played the cpu.


What are things that are looked down upon in hockey gaming online? enlighten me please

Wrap around seems to be a normal one. Cross crease was in NHL09, but by now, if you don't know how to block it, you're own problem. (talking about guys who have played it since 09) Rocket shot, which is pulling the stick out and back and firing at the net.

Other then that, not to much else really. Of course when you play, every goal is a glitch goal because no one scores legit.

Cross crease is pretty easy to stop. All you need to do is eliminate the shooter so just go and check him on his way to the net. Interference is still rarely called, but you're legitimately eliminating somebody out of the play.

If they're going to constantly do cross crease, you constantly check the person the pass is going to. No harm done really.

Bodychecking is old money. Stick lift, dive, kneel or just stand right next to him in NHL11.

Wrap around was a glitch last year, as the goals never got off the post properly. This year it isn't an issue. Other then that, there really isn't much. A lot of shots have a high % but nothing that can't be stopped.

If you can't block that by dragging your stick on the ice, or poke checking, or sliding, or kneeling, your own fault IMO.

I don't really think there are any ways to score in NHL that aren't considered "glitchy" to some degree. Sure if you use one too often, it could be considered cheese, but I don't think it's really possible to rely on one method of scoring over and over to the point where it constitutes abuse. As Ravin said, there are ways to stop everything.

If he constantly does wrap arounds, fucking hit his ass the next time around...If they constantly do cross crease passes, fucking plant your ass in the crease and break it up.

There is a counter to every "glitch" that has been mentioned here. The only thing that is really gay IMO is the rocket shot, but I'm guilty of that too because I'm more successful with wristers than I am slap shots. I can't seem to get my slap shots off in time whereas I can pop a wrister from anywhere thanks to the element of surprise.

Agree that the "rocket wrister" gets pretty gay and I try not to abuse it, but even that can be stopped with good defensive positioning.
