Anything that isn't "overkill". I think it's pretty clear to tell what is a blatant abuse of AI, as opposed to a "scheme". I'm usually very leinient with this kind of thing when I play online (4th downs, running QB, etc), but when people are throwing the same route all the way down the field or sacking my QB with your DT within a second, then you're wasting my time.

"Sim" is anything that would happen in real life. If you watch football you should know. Obviously any abuse of AI would be outside of sim.

A lot of guys get upset if someone throws a lot more than they run, likes to use 5 wide all game, etc. I don't mind things like this, as long as they're still doing their best to mix up the play-calling. I'm cool with pretty much whatever besides going for it on 4th and 10 and blatant AI abuse.

The style of madden that I like to play is a mixture of SIM and Freestyle.

The SIM play comes in because I'm not gonna RC,Nano,Option(08),All curls, or any other things like that, that are obviously "exploits".
But the Freestyle play comes in because I'm not gonna always punt on 4th, I might use the same play/formation for majority of the game.

That's how I like to play, obviously it's understandable to ask that your opponent won't RC/Nano, but IMO asking them to always punt on 4th and to not use the same plays is alittle overboard.
IMO if I can't stop a certain play then my opponent has the right to run it as many times as they like, just as if you can't stop a certain play/formation that I'm using then expect to get a heavy dose of it.


Players in real life can't RC/Nano so that's why I consider it non-sim.
But coaches can go for it whenever they want and call whatever play they want whenever they want and however many times they want to. Coaches in real life have to option so I think players who play the game should have the option.

That's how I like to play madden.

I've always felt that if they play doesn't abuse the AI, then its fair game...

meaning, I don't care if you run the same play on me every down, if I can't stop it, its my own fault. but if your scrambling all day with your QB and running the FB dive every other play then it just gets stupid.

the reason I say I don't care about the same play over and over is because I feel that every legit play has a defense that can stop it, so if there's a defense that can shut it down, then its fair play.

people bitched at me last year because I was dominant with the stretch play in NCAA... its not like the play is impossible to stop. but it was the base of my offense, and I could run a lot out of the same formation to keep the team honest. to me this is legit play, others think its bullshit because I never change my formation and when I do its usually the same shotgun formation. my thing has always been, I'm not abusing the AI, I'm not cheating, I'm running an effective offense that makes you stay honest and actually use football knowledge to stop me, if you can't do that, I'm just the better coach that day.

Sim ball in my opinion consists of two things, mainly playing the game as close to how they play it on Sundays. 2nd is not constantly abusing bad AI, since real players don't have the advantage of a retarded CPU controlled player

sim play is realistic in terms of what a real coach would do without abusing glitches or AI faults. IE going for it on 4th and 2 or less everytime with a FB dive cuz you know it can't be stopped or using rocket catches just cuz you know they cant be or are very hard to stop. I am pretty open with regaurds to run and pass ratios, i dont feel sim play means you have to be 50/50 at all. The Pats barely run the ball and with their personell it makes sense to have a pass based attack with 3 or 4 wides all game. For defense i hate seeing nano's and guys just going way out wide with a fast DE and running in around the line. As for running QB's, i feel like there is enough playmaker options on d to help slow it down, but if a guy is just sprinting out from the snap that is just not gonna fly.

I have never felt that sim play shoudl limit a coaches ability to have a game plan, be it a smash mouth running game or air it out attack, my only issue and main purpose of rules to avoid the things that take clear advantage of an AI fualt.

Easy question yes, but some people still fail to know what it means.

2 biggest ones now. Most people punt now not that big a deal.

Also i understand in reallife we see more things but thats real life. We dont play 15 min qrtrs online, we cant just sub in guys after every play if we wanted to. Fatigue in Madden is a joke so OBV in reallife your not going to run with a QB the whole way down field or throw bombs to WRs every play cause guys actually get tired.

The anything is sim is BS IMO. But if your a tourny player then good for you, i dont hate on you guys. Just dont play me and we will be fine.

i <3 playing you, i can count on a game with you every saturday morning about 9am or 10 am because you and i were always the only ones on.

When I play with my boys at my crib or something, we always play as close to our team as we would.

Punting when appropriate, and we vary our formations a lot. We all have "win" plays, but to run that stuff more than 3-5 times a game is weak and we frown upon it.

We stay away from screens as a whole, unless it's a situation that may call upon it. Maybe 3rd and long, just trying to get better position to punt.

Usually, I never have problems with people from here for SIM. If I find myself frustrated playing someone, it's usually as a result of my actions, not because of a play or formation abuse from their side of the ball.
