Prince Fielder, and besides Tex, it's not even close. How Votto got into this discussion either, I have no idea. That's actually a great contract that the Reds had to do.
 
The Votto contract will get ugly at some point, but the bottom line is if you want these players through their primes, you have to make that trade off.

I'd be more pissed if he were a Dodger for the next 10 years than I will be when he's bumming it up at 38. Especially if they win a World Series at some point, then you can easily live with some shit years at the end.

I've never enjoyed watching a player more. I'm beyond thrilled they got him locked up for life.
 
A-Gone did change his swing, he doesn't hit as many home runs but he lead MLB in doubles last year (FWIW). Oh, and he's on pace for about 23-27 homers this year so I'm not sure about that point where he's no better this year than he was last season.

Gonzalez has 7 home runs in 197 plate appearances. With that pace he would need 760 plate appearances to hit 27 home runs.

I was spitballing. He had 5 home runs in the month of May, and I'm not sure how you calculated pace for 760, but I did some rough math and I got 23 home runs in 650 plate appearances.

23 is not bad.

I used his 6 home runs, multiplied by the fact his team had played 53 games (one full third of the season). 6 x 3 = 18.

He also averages 691 plate appearances per season. This puts him at a pace for 24.

Pretty loose definition of terrible. 25 bombs, 106 RBI, career high in double (36), 120 OPS+.

Down year by his standards, but no doubt still a feared slugger. The inexplicable drop in walks hurts his slash, part of that is only 5 IBB this year after leading the league the two previous seasons, also led the league in HBP last year with 17, and only 8 this year.

His numbers are a bit down for sure, but he's still putting up good numbers.
