More importantly, the Colts fucking suck with or without Manning. As Archer always used to say, they've been drafting like ass cheeks for years now. Manning isn't going to turn them from 0-16 into 12-4.

The Colts were 10-6 last year, and Peyton Manning doesn't play defense, which ranks 29th in yards allowed, dead last in points per game allowed, and last in AFC in takeaways.

This team is really no different than last years playoff team, aside from the absence of Manning. And to be fair, the offense was banged up all year and Manning was working with new shitty white WR's every week.

Manning has been dragging soft, undersized, bad defenses to 10+ wins for years. Manning doesn't play defense, but I can promise you that those atrocious defensive numbers would look a lot less awful with Manning moving the chains, limiting turn overs, and controlling the game.

The Colts were constructed around Manning. Not just the offense, the entire team. They built a small, undersized defense that flourishes playing with a lead and chasing the QB. Manning would control the clock, win field position, create leads, and eliminate the opposing teams running game.

Without Manning, you have turn overs, you have short three & outs, you lose the field position game, you have teams playing ahead and pounding the rock...the entire team dynamic is shot to shit.

You see the same thing in Denver right now. Look how bad that defense looked with Orton as compared to Tebow. Tebow doesn't play defense, but he doesn't throw picks, and the offense churns clock and keeps the defense on the sidelines. The defense was constantly on the field playing with Orton.

I remember one season, I think it was the year before the second SB (Colts fans can help me here), where the Colts defense was so bad, that Manning would intentionally stall drives and drag out the first downs in order to keep the offense on the field longer.
