:brianwilson: Quite the expectations to place on someone who has yet to play in the big leagues. I am not doubting his potential at all, but to already say he will be like those guys is a bit extreme IMO.

Harper is a once in a lifetime prospect. His power potential at this age is unheard of, granted Moore might end up having a better career but I'd take Harper.

I like Trout the most. I'd stay away from Moore, just because pitching prospects are fundamentally, a bigger risk.

I think any deal would obviously require major league talent in return, or near major league talent. Realistically the only way a top prospect would ever get traded is if the team was in win now mode.

For Trout, I would offer the Angels:
John Axford
Johnathan Lucroy
Two prospects not named Peralta, and not from the '11 draft.

I think that would be the requirement, at minimum to get a conversations started. The package addresses two of the Angel's biggest needs, Closer and catcher, with first division, cost controlled players, and while the prospects won't be on any top 100 list, there are a few interesting names left in the Brewer's system.

Went with Trout. Slightly higher probability than Harper, IMO, though Harper has unlimited upside. Huge surprise Slateman was already mounting his plaque in Cooperstown, btw. Huge surprise.

There's a good chance that both Trout and Moore have better careers, but I don't want to think I had a chance at someone like Harper and missed out. That power potential is just too insane.

Generally speaking I'll take the everyday player over the pitcher everytime.

I don't know if they're looking for a CL or catcher anymore. I think Ianetta will be solid and Conger is a competent backup. I think for this season at least we've pushed all our chips in on Walden and stepped away from the table.

Third baseman are sorely need though.

Why is it a *sarcastically* huge surprise? Actually, up until this point, I've been quite the naysayer about Harper. Pretty negative about him. A couple of posters on here have actually convinced me about how good he is and has the potential to be.
