Which Top Prospect would you take?

Why is it a *sarcastically* huge surprise? Actually, up until this point, I've been quite the naysayer about Harper. Pretty negative about him. A couple of posters on here have actually convinced me about how good he is and has the potential to be.

1. You're a huge homer. You're the Nationals version of moneyman...except slightly more tolerable.

2. So you hated or were "down" the guy and people around here convinced you that he is now the second coming of Williams, Mays, and Mantle? :joeybats:

In the last two weeks alone, you have A.) called him the greatest prospect in the history of baseball and B.) predicted his career to mirror Babe Ruth and Ted Williams.

I've been pretty down on him saying that he hasn't proven anything and is still just a prospect. I was predicting that he would be a bust or never really be anything more than a .270 hitter with some power.

Can't remember who it was, but they showed me a comparison between Harper and everyone else who had hit at Single A ball at age 18. The worst player on there was Upton. Kind of opened my eyes.

Oh, and I admit I'm a huge Nationals homer. Is there something wrong with that? I grew up in Northern Virginia and have been a fan of the Nats since they came to DC. Ain't like I'm jumping on a bandwagon here. I can remember the last time the Nats were .500


I'm actually almost as excited about Rendon as Harper. I'm hoping he can speed through the minors and get a call up sometime next year. It would be really, really nice to not have to see Ian Desmond at shortstop anymore.

I like Trout the most. I'd stay away from Moore, just because pitching prospects are fundamentally, a bigger risk.

I think any deal would obviously require major league talent in return, or near major league talent. Realistically the only way a top prospect would ever get traded is if the team was in win now mode.

For Trout, I would offer the Angels:
John Axford
Johnathan Lucroy
Two prospects not named Peralta, and not from the '11 draft.

I think that would be the requirement, at minimum to get a conversations started. The package addresses two of the Angel's biggest needs, Closer and catcher, with first division, cost controlled players, and while the prospects won't be on any top 100 list, there are a few interesting names left in the Brewer's system.

You went from thinkign Harper would hit .270 with some power to comparing him to Williams, Ruth, and Mays.

He threw that offer out there because the brewers don't have the chips to get any top prospect.

I'd love Harper for the mets. Ike Davis, Harvey, akeel Morris and wilmer Flores...
