Who are the playoff contender pretenders?

Ok. So why didn't you also include the Cleveland Indians? Considering they aren't far removed from an 8 game losing streak, and they strikeout almost as much as the Braves. They also don't have the luxury of playing in the NL East.

Hmm this is interesting. I don't see xFAITH as a category on BP's standings page. But I do see that they have Cleveland's expected winning percentage at .501 and the Braves at .527. Sabermetrics still has a long way to go I guess since they are not yet including the opinions of clueless fans with a complete lack of moral compass.

I think it would have been better to wait until after the trade deadline before making it, but I can still see doing it now. In my mind, a lot of the questions will be answered, either by that point or based off moves made (or not made.) At least for the Orioles and Yankees, the team that picks up the best pitching would be ahead of the other. The Orioles have won more games with their offense this year, but desperately need another starter as Hammel isn't cutting it, and another bullpen option wouldn't be that bad either.

I cannot see the Yankees sniffing the playoffs this year. They started out very hot in April, and have been cooling off ever since. With that, all of their "hot" plaers have also cooled. Youk is out for the year, Tex, Granderson, and Jeter have no timeline, and A-Rod is iffy (though an improvement over David Adams, still not that key player they need to push them over the edge). Adding in a pitcher won't save the Yankees. Their record is not something that truly describes that team.

I'm not a fan of the D'Backs or think they are particularly good.

He's settling in right where most figured. He's a nice player. He can start for them for 8-10 years, because no matter what that glove will keep him in the lineup. He's a .319 career OBA in MiLB, so if he gives you .320 at this level with his glove, you sign for it in a split second and you've got yourself a pretty decent SS.

I think Towers buried the poor guy when he called him Jeter. I mean, forget the unrealistic expectations that brings with derp fans. The tools aren't even the same. Stupid on a number of levels.

Well, it is almost July and currently there are seventeen teams within 4 games of a playoff spot. Anything can happen, but if you're farther back then that you suck and should just sell at the deadline.

Of course they have a 91% chance of making the playoffs because the shitdick Nats are 6 games back. The NL East is the worst division when it comes to Run differential. I foresee an early exit for Atlanta if they make the playoffs.
