Why is ESPN so obsessed with the Chargers?

I love charger fans that act like they're any different from New England's fan base.

at least New England has actually won something. San Diego talks just as much shit despite winning nothing.
 
Fuck the Chargers. Nothing would make me happier than beating them in the AFC Championship game. However if we were too lose and let Norv Fucking Turner into the super bowl I might just kill an animal.

I might hate this team more than I hated the Patriots back a few years ago. I respect the hell out of them, though. Can't deny they play us very very well.
 
Shit I thought the Chargers weren't getting enough love until their last win.

They were picked to win that division and started out slow of course and 3veryone began sucking the Broncos dick for 4 more games until you figured out that simple ass offense, while their undersized defense was being exposed.

Chargers enter back into it with their aerial attack, which is top 3 at least in the league...they can field a BBALL team with their WR's/TE's...much like the Colts, the run game is just something to keep teams honest.

the pass defense is at least average (by looking at the stats) and they know how to win against manning. two teams that worry me are the patriots and steelers.

it is logical to believe that they can go far in the playoffs. they recently beat cincy, dallas, and tenn and they have a good (recent) history against the colts. cincy is in the playoffs, dallas could be in the playoffs and beat the saints, and tenn has looked very good and had a chance to be in the playoffs. quality wins late in the season and on a 10 game win streak. any praise the chargers receive is warranted.

im going to throw in a cheap shot just because i dont like the broncos ... your teams' offense is pathetic and its playoff chances are diminishing.

Kyle Orton in a game in a half against your self proclaimed "Average pass D" has shredded it for:

35/58 60% 400 yards and 2 TD's.

I'll be the first Denver fan to say I'd love to play the Chargers in the playoffs.

The Chargers don't have a good pass D. They do have a few nice players back there though. It doesn't really matter what their ranking is when they get 4 games against the Chiefs and Raiders each year.

In those 4 games the Raiders/Chiefs only combined for 592 yards, 3 TDs, 7 INTs, 51% completion which is pretty awful.

its not like im wrong by saying they are 'at least' average ... look at the stats.

also, i havent heard very many people talk about the chargers playing poorly away from SD in cold/bad weather. actually i have heard the opposite. ive heard people make comments about how surprised they are that a team from SD could do so well away from such great weather.

you are obviously a bronco fan that seemingly hates the chargers so your comments and groans, while dumb, are understandable.

i wasnt aware kyle orton was your favorite football player of all time and is pretty much the reason you became a fan of and started watching football.

yes, any team philip is on i will cheer for ... but i will cheer just as hard when the chargers win as i do when the panthers win and it hurts just as much when the chargers lose as it does when the panthers lose. all of that can change in a heart beat by way of trade (or whatever), but it does not change how i have felt and currently feel about the team.

They might be overrated but at least they beat the Raiders and didn't piss away a 6-0 start :)

Orton didn't come into the game till like the last drive of the first half and anyone that saw that game knows how different that Broncos offense functioned after Simms left and Orton came back in. Oh and the first game the Broncos and Chargers played it was painfully obvious he shredded that SD secondary in your house.
