I believe that the defense is called the Steel Curtain as a reference to the iron curtain of the communists after WWII. Not positive though.

I thought it was because you couldn't throw a football through a curtain without the ball getting knocked to the ground...:confused2:

Wow...I love football, and if Texas or San Francisco loses I'm usually in a bad mood for the rest of the week, but I've never come close to a meltdown of that epic proportion. God damn.

I almost almost cried once after a Giants game. IT was like a week 9 game against the Seahawks, we both were the top of the NFC at the time and the winner would emerge as the home-field winner most likely. Well, in a game we dominated in Seattle, we lost after Jay Feely missed a total of three field goals, including one at the end of regulation, and two in Overtime. But I was like 13 at the time and really emotional

there was a time in the 80's and early 90's when living in pittsburgh was almost as bad as cleveland and detriot are now. the exit of industry did a number on the city and it took a while for it to come back.

P.S: I respect the Steelers, I just hate them because:
a.) They're very good
b.) 90% of their fans don't even live in Pittsburgh. And the ones who did live in Pittsburgh, got out as fast as they could. They're the Lakers / Yankees of the NFL. Bandwagon x100.

I don't really understand B. People move. My family is from Pittsburgh but largely moved for work reasons. They got me into the Steelers. I have never lived in Pittsburgh, but been a Steelers fan forever. Why should I be punished because I have a good job in Philadelphia and don't want to move across the state for a football team?

I just don't see how saying the fact that a lot of Steeler fans don't live in Pittsburgh is an indication of bandwagon fans. It probably has a lot more to do with the fact that no one wants to be a steel worker or coal miner anymore.

I've actually been to Dallas a couple times for Eagles - Cowboys games, and I've found their fans to be farly docile and friendly. It's when the shitheads I traveled with started in on them was when they became loud and obnoxious.
