Couldn't tell you. Haven't seriously watched college football until the past couple of years.

He'll do fine. May not be a Jimmy Johnson type coach, or take us to a Super Bowl crown, but I think we will make the playoffs in a few seasons under him.

Let's face it. This Seahawk team is in full blown rebuilding mode and likely wasn't headed to the postseason in 2010 anyway.. I would say 2012 would be the season where we should see Carroll turn around this team.

I think he'll do a decent job if he gets enough time (4-5 years). He wasn't a BAD coach in New York or New England, he was just average. Let him get his players in there and get things set up the way he wants, and see where he can take you. He's a great defensive coach.

Had a chance to get Leinart, didn't want anything to do with him.

He did trade for Lendale White and cut him a few weeks later.

He even traded Lawrence Jackson who he already had on the team.

I'm jumping on the Carroll bandwagon. Always been a Hawks fan but now I'm getting more confidence we can actually become good again.

Watching the game against the Broncos today, especially on offense you can see that Carroll just doesn't have the personnel to run the system he wants. He went deep more than I ever remember Mora going but Hasselbeck looked off.

Eeessshh... I don't like coaches having final say on personnel these days. That's why I felt like Denver really missed the boat by not bringing in Pioli and McDaniels at the same time. There's just too much tape to watch. Coaches should coach, scouts and GMs should familiarize themselves with the scheme and handle that aspect. If a coach sees a guy he must have and the scouting and personnel guys don't have an outrageously low grade on him then let him have his pick. But it's at the very least a two man job in this day and age.

It doesn't mean I have to micro-manage every thing, but I want to know my stupid GM isn't gonna cut a player I like.

I remember hearing the same things about Bobby Petrino and Nick Saban.. Unless Carroll is a MUCH better evaluator of talent than I think he is or has shown to be in the past he deserves that power about as much as Norv Turner does.

Carroll's college resume way greater than Saban's or Petrino's ... especially Petrino's.
That comparison is insane. I might buy Saban.
And Carroll has NFL head coaching resume.

How is Pete Carroll a proven coach? The only thing he's proven at the NFL level is that he can be a stop-gap coach between Super Bowl-level coaches.

Carroll was a great recruiter at USC, and he hired assistant coaches who were great recruiters. I don't see how this will translate to the NFL in regards to "personnel control". Its like the opposite of Charlie Weis at Notre Dame...Weis had a pro-style scheme but couldn't really recruit.

That said, Carroll deserves a 2nd chance at the NFL and also deserves at least 3 seasons before he gets judged. Seattle was/is in sorry shape.
