Beating Indy would be huge for the Titans, I don't know where you're getting this 'it does absolutely zilch for them' stuff.
Yes, beating Indy would be huge. Why create all the pressure on themselves with this ONE game? Even if they win it, they can still lose to Miami and San Diego and this game does nothing for them. It's pretty straight forward.
Last I checked it does count towards their overall record, and with the division already over with, 1 game makes a huge difference in the wild card race.
When your destiny is in other teams hands, the one game that makes a huge difference, isn't your own. Pittsburgh, Baltimore still play one another. If it came down to competing with just one those two teams, there's your one game. The remaining schedule for the Broncos is possibly a win out, as long as they don't screw it up.
The Jaguars still have games against Houston, Miami, Indianapolis, @ New England, @ Cleveland. I really only see them winning the Cleveland game. And maybe the Miami game, still not enough to get into the playoffs. So the Jaguars are out.
Now lets assume Pittsburgh and Denver are the only teams that stand in the way of the Titans making the playoffs? Both of their remaining schedules can be win outs. Thus, those teams being 11-5 negates the Titans even making the playoffs, if they win out.
The Colts game does something for the Titans if they were competing for the division crown, which they're not. Winning this game does not guarantee them anything, thus just another one of five remaining games.
Beating the Colts in Indy would give them all kinds of confidence.
Beating the Colts is nothing more then a confidence booster.
Exactly. Confidence booster, that's it.
