Winslow Jr: I would take a bullet for Raheem Morris

Kellen Winslow Jr. has had plenty of time to settle in with his new team in Seattle but he’s still talking about his exit from Tampa Bay.

Winslow, appearing in a YouTube video posted by new Seahawks teammate Michael Robinson on his Web site realrobreport.com says that he had to depart when new coach Greg Schiano took over the Buccaneers, according to Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times.

“Schiano came over there and he (yelled), ‘Toes on the line! Toes on the line!’ Blowing the whistle. You can’t laugh. You can’t joke around,” Winslow said. “So, I decided not to go to OTAs. They got my man Rah (ex-coach Raheem Morris) up out of there, and I was loyal to him. I would take a bullet for that dude. So, I had to roll.”

You can check out Winslow’s rant on the video if you would like. He also suggested that the Buccaneers “fired the wrong guy.” It doesn’t take too many guesses to likely figure who he meant. The guess here is general manager Mark Dominick. But Morris was the one sent packing and now Winslow is in a new place too. Perhaps soon he’ll stop talking about the former place.

Slow news time is slow, but :jonesy: at trying to say football is worth taking a bullet for someone. I know what he was trying to say, but come on. This is also proof that I don't think Schiano is going to last long. Athletes making multi-million dollars aren't going to respond well to something like Winslow is describing, if true.

If you're going to have off the field problems then you have to be successful on the field. Bucs looked absolutely terrible after that Packers game and it just magnified the dumb shit the players were getting in trouble for off the field. I think Schiano is trying to clean up the image a little bit and do his best to bring in some better characters. I fucking hate the Glazers but I have no doubt they went into Mark Dominick's office and said "fix this mess" after the season ended.

I like the Schiano signing. A no non-sense guy is exactly what they need after Raheem Morris was so lax and everyones best friend.

Was thinking about this, and was wondering why he and Morris had so many issues during their tenure in Tampa if Winslow really thought this highly of Morris. Doesn't makes sense to me.

Winslow is a fucking idiot. He didn't have a choice here, he was on his way out because they weren't going to pay him what he wanted and he's not half the player he used to be.

Morris is the definition of a "player's coach" who wants his players to like him more than he wants to win. Look at Tom Coughlin, Mike Tomlin, Bill Belicheck, etc. If you don't think these guys are "no non-sense" perfectionists that want every single detail to be right then you're only kidding yourself.

Schiano will succeed if he knows x's and o's at this level. Motivation and work ethic are not his issue, he will succeed in that aspect, but how well he does will depend on his ability to learn, teach, adjust, evolve and get his players to execute properly.
