So they should go and sign someone else because their de facto LONG RELIEVER that will occasionally start, isn't that great? I really don't understand what you're bitter about here man. He would be in many teams starting rotation. The Phils use him when their worst starter can't start and in situations when a starter gets hurt early. What do you want here?

I would rather have KK and even be rid of Blanton if it meant another bat in the lineup. The whole point here is that Ibanez' contract is definitely worse (and Blanton's is worse too).

I hate Kendrick and I want him to die.........its hatred....built over 4 years of continued mediocre performances.

I was just coming in here to refute this, and saw his numbers for this year. Just as bad as Luis Castillo, but still not as bad as Oliver Perez.

What about the 3-years, $37 mill the Mets paid for Francisco Rodriguez? They've gotten 2.4 WAR total from that contract. It's not that K-Rod has performed all that bad (when he's not assaulting his in-laws in the clubhouse) but a relief pitcher is just not worth that much money.

Then there's the whole $17.5 mill vesting option that kicks in if he makes 55 appearances. That's gonna be a hilarious subplot to keep an eye on in August/September.


And in the order of fairness, I am compelled to nominate Dan Uggla for this thread. I know it's early, but yeesh.

Well I do have confidence he will get hot...if Uggla can get back to his numbers two years ago, the Braves will take that...they would love last year's Uggla though.

I was at the game tonight. Bay hit a ball hard to LF but it was right at Prado. Uggla hit a double that bounced off the bag, but I was the concession stand getting beer so I didn't see it. I was told that it was hit pretty hard, which is encouraging, but other than that he didn't hit another ball out of the infield.

Reyes of course looked great. As much as I want to dislike the guy, I enjoy watching him smack line drives down the right field line for triples.

lol I believe Thurrsday Bay hit an oppo field smash but the fielder made an unbelievable play.

Thing is with Bay, he hasn't hit much in ANY terms of power, whether it's doubles or HR's. Hit a gap somewhere, smash down the line. He essentially gets his hits pulling towards the SS side and either getting it through that hole or to 3B and beating it down the line. The lack of power is remarkable.

With Uggla, Bobby V broke down his swing, and he sets up similar to Chipper from the right side. Thing is, while Chipper will plant his foot on an angle towards 1B, Uggla's foot plants towards 2B. What happens is his front side swings WIDE open, and he can't hit anything outside.
