UI comparison is very subjective. I have never struggled to find what I'm looking for in the Xbox interface. About the only time I can think of, is the day, and more specifically at the exact time of something being added. Mostly, the yearly sports demos and that's because I've elected to stay up till 2am and download them right as they're added and haven't even appeared in the marketplace, yet. And that is pretty easily solved by just searching and finding the game page on xbox.com and sending it to download to my xbox. Which, I'm not even sure, does PS even do that? (legitimate question)
'Other benefits' Well, doesn't Xbox 'win' by default? You pay and get access to just about everything their service offers, while PS+ gets auto downloads, and cloud saves. This is probably where you see the most bias. That short list makes it better? Buy a thumbdrive, and you don't need cloud saves at all. Auto-downloads is nice, but I'm sitting at an update screen on my xbox once every year. Other than that, updates are never more than a minute(this depends on your ISP, of course).
Free games are overrated. Why? Because anyone who is excited about playing Virtua Fighter 5 or Saints Row 2 should stop being so fucking cheap and have bought the game a long time ago. Let's be fucking real here. If you own a console, and haven't played the majority of these games yet, you probably don't want to. R&C, inFamous 2, and LBP2 are proper, worthwhile exclusives, but you've probably already played them by now, if you really care to. The market for getting games for cheap now is huge. Especially if you don't have to have games day 1. This isn't that big of a deal.
Even worse, is that this was posted on VSN. Who the hell here doesn't already know what they want to pay for, here?
1) I don't think it's subjective at all. I find that your opinion of the dashboard is only the majority on THIS site. I've said it a million times but every other site I visit, magazine I read or podcast I listen to absolutely hates the Xbox dashboard. Every time it comes up all you hear is "Ugh. It's sooooooo bad." Except here for some weird reason. Just listen to all the Giant Bomb E3 podcasts. I actually chuckle because every time the topic comes up it's like they can't talk over each other enough to voice their unbelievable displeasure. I', "old school" i guess.I thought the blades were cool. Not only was it super easy to find anything you were looking for but your themes actually meant something. Why buy any theme on Xbox now? So I can see a small section of a background when scrolling through my friends? It's completely tailored to the Kinect and it's fucking atrocious. Laos, if you're going to tailor it to that piece of shit, at least have it work. I completely gave up on that hunk of shit as far as navigating the already shitty dash. I can never get it to work. I'll say "Xbox, Trials Evolution" and it will bring up something using Bing that isn't even close. Absolute shit.
2) Again, couldn't disagree more. On Xbox you have to pay to be able to sue services you already pay for like Netflix, Hulu, MLB.tv, etc. How on Earth does Xbox win in that category? As far as downloads and updates, you're going to tell me you have to update your games once a year? Is it really quick on Xbox? Sure. But I NEVER have to watch any updates on PS3. Whether it's firmware or a game patch, with PS+ they update automatically while I'm asleep and the next time I turn on my PS3 I get a notification telling me what was updated.
3) Free games are overrated? Give me a fucking break. I buy probably more games than anyone on this site but there are still some that I wait a while for. Even more recently I've been even more patient waiting for price drops. Just in the last two PS+ updates I've downloaded about eight games that I at least had interest in playing but never bought. I'm obviously in the minority so I can't even imagine most other people that don't buy anywhere near the amount of games I do. Every month it's like fucking xmas. Seriously, hating on all these free games reeks of Xbox homerism.
