The Steelers could have 2 mount rushmores:
Mean Joe Greene
Terry Bradshaw
Franco Harris
Mel Blount
Rod Woodson
Mike Webster
Jack Ham
Jack Lambert
Bettis/Stallworth would be the odd man out I guess? I really don't know how good Stallworth was.
Some say Stallworth was better than Swann. I mean he had a longer career, more 1,000 yd seasons (Swann never had 1,000 yds in a season). Stallworth & Swann came into the league together in 1974, Swann played till 82, Stallworth till 87. If you look at their numbers from 74-82, Swann averaged 16.3 ypc - Stallworth 17.7, Swann 334 receptions - Stallworth 299, Swann 5462- Stallworth 5304. That being said I think the measure by which anybody thinks Swann is better or deserves more acclaim than Stallworth would have to be the aerial show Swann put on in those iconic SB catches. Outside of that these guys were equals as I see it.
Shiiiit, the Steelers could have a Rushmore of Owners/Coaches, QB's/WRs, RB/OL, DL, LB, CB/S.
O/Coach - Art Rooney, Noll, Cowher, Tomlin. Each coach has won a SB
QB/WR - Bradshaw/BigBen/Swann/Hines
RB - Harris/Bettis/Webster/Darmontti Dawson - great RBs with two of the best centers in the history of football
DL - Joe Greene, LC Greenwood, Aaron Smith, Earnie Stautner
LB - Lambert, Ham, Harrison, Greg Lloyd, Joey Porter, Kevin Green, Levon Kirkland, James Farrior, Chad Brown, Jason Gildon, LaMarr Woodley - take your pick. Ham+Lambert are locks though. Maybe even split this into two rushmores ILB - OLB.
DB - Mel Blount, Rod Woodson, Troy Polamalu, Donnie Shell
I thought someone did a Rushmore of Steelers brass (obviously doesn't include Swann)?
It's really crazy that it's hard to find room for guys like Hines Ward and Jerome Bettis on the Steelers Rushmore. I do think that Terry Bradshaw could be on a Mount Rushmore of pure icons, where as I think he's dropped when we're talking skill/results.
I did, it was all owners/coaches for the Rushmore. :lesmug:
What's this about Terry Bradshaw's skill/results? You do realize you're talking about the first QB ever to win two SB's right? The Blond Bomber. I mean this guy didn't have an offensive coordinator calling plays for him, no. He was down there calling his own plays from the huddle, beating great innovative coaches like John Madden and Tom Landry who both called the shots. Bradshaw was hard to bring down, always made big plays in big games, and simply won when other's might not have. Skill/results? Please.
