    EA announces 2 demos

GameStop has announced that customers who preorder Madden NFL 10 will have their premature enthusiasm rewarded with an "exclusive" 20 minute demo of the new game, which recreates Super Bowl XLIII with the champion Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Arizona Cardinals. But if you happen to have a blood oath against reserving games at certain establishments, fret not -- EA will also release a far less awesome 8 minute Madden NFL 10 demo, featuring the New York Giants vs. the Dallas Cowboys.
While the initial announcement of the exclusive GameStop demo at first seemed to suggest it would be the only way for gamers to try out this year's version of Madden, EA quickly clarified the confusion, telling Shacknews that "we will also be issuing a demo via Xbox LIVE and PSN that features the Giants vs. Cowboys with 2 minute quarters" (whereas the GameStop demo features 5 minute quarters). Both demos are only for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, with those reserving through GameStop getting a special download code for their version of the demo.

The GameStop demo is expected to go live by "the end of July," while a timeframe for the public demo hasn't been announced. Madden NFL 10 is set for release on August 14.
Not sure if the 2 demo announcement has been posted yet so if it has let me know and il delete this

its a win win imo.....from a business stand point EA wins and from a consumer stand point it is a win because you now have a incentive for pre ordering the game.

Pre Orders are BS now a days. totally pointless for the consumer because you never have trouble buying the games anymore. It used to be done for availability reasons, now its to bolster sales numbers.

for a game like this, that is pretty much a given for most people to pre order, its a win win.....a less popular game and i would say its a shitty move for the consumer.

Its just like Crackdown and the halo beta....think about how they were able to make sales by including a code to play halo beta.....good move

Good point, but with Crackdown it also sent the message that they didn't think the title could carry on its own merit. Which turned out to be true when the announced they wouldn't produce a sequel...though now I guess it doesn't matter.

Even still long as both demos are from the same build I will be happy with just the 8min version as opposed to the 20min. Not great, but I'm sure it will show me the taste I need to get an idea of whats to come.

it benefits that god awful store known as gamestop. that place sucks. i agree with the point about Crackdown, im sure it helped them sell way more copies (turned out to be an incredible game anyway) but its not like madden isnt going to sell millions of copies as usual. i dont see the point of it. i dont feel like wasting my time to drive to GSjust to get a longer demo. theres no reason they shouldnt release the full demo for everyone.

Yeah, I got sucked into preordering this past weekend when they mentioned the demo. Had I known there would be another demo I would not have. Oh well, if the demo sucks I'll just move the 5 to NHL 2010 preorder.
