Most Disappointing Game This Gen?

what game(s) that you were really excited about and couldnt wait to get your hands left you coming away disappointed?

after the awesomeness of San Andreas i expected nothing less than perfection from this game. Did it still have the same mindless open world just do random cool shit in it? it sure did, but other than that it was lacking. The graphics were top notch and the story was fine but there was little to no innovation involved in the actual gameplay whatsoever. Yes, online was something new but just couldn't hold my interest for long. They took out the building up your character aspect which i enjoyed in SA seemingly just to dumb it down for casual gamers. The missions were in same exact mold of every GTA game and just got so repetitive and boring except for a few scattered missions here and there. The same crappy car control was left in the game, and their idea of cool side stuff was playing pool and darts? no thanks. Was it a horrible game? Not at all but i expected so much more.

WaW the most disappointing game? C'mon. I think the same goes for GTA4. There was no way that game could've lived up to the hype. I still think it's an awesome game. To each his own as far as that character building from SA is concerned because I thought that crap was a huge waste of time. I equate it to the 'friendships' in GTA4. Both were annoying.

It's hard to say what my most disappointing game is. As far as this gen is concerned I would definitely agree with JMS and say that Madden 06 was a fucking disgrace. I hear Too Human was pretty bad and it looks like Damnation fell flat on it's face, but I didn't play either.

Haze was a pretty big disappointment, as was Lair. Both are decent games but nowhere near as good as they should've been or were expected to be.

So many games and franchises have had great success on the next gen, but Madden (ignoring the sales simply because it's the fucking NFL) has been just piss poor due to havin to start from scratch because they had the wrong guys in there in the first place.

i knew cod 5 would not live up the hype of cod 4 but the game blew no matter what. the same goes for GTA 4.

i'm going to say Assassin's Creed. It is an awesome idea, but the way they made it just ended up with a boring game after a while. Hopefully Assassin's Creed 2 will be better

Cod WaW, thought it'd be decent, but I was wrong. Hated it.

GTA, again thought i'd be good, played it for an hour and don't think I've played it for more then 20 minutes straight after that.

Halo 3 was fun as hell when it first came out. Then my xbox broke in November and I didn't play it much after that. Still think Halo 2 was better then 3.

As others have mentioned, Assassin's Creed was probably my biggest disappointment. Game looked so badass when I first saw the trailers/gameplay demos, and all things considered, it was pretty badass until I got to the second assassination and learned that it was a carbon copy of the first.

GTAIV was also disappointing for reasons people have already mentioned. Killzone 2 was a pretty big disappointment for me, as it was a generic FPS with massive production values. I would think with all the money poured into the game there would be a bit more substance, something other than the graphics that would make me say 'wow.'
