I'm curious as to how attributes are weighted into overall this year...

I just created a player that was NOT in this year's game, but was in last years game...I fired up 09, copied down the attributes and re-created him into '10...In '09, his overall was a 74. In 2010 his overall is a 62.

Same position, same everything. A simple re-create.

My guess? Overall is weighted a lot more on aspects of a player in relation to the position.

Example. Defensive End Overalls have more weight to them in categories like Tackle, Hit Power, Power Moves, Finesse Moves, Block Shedding, and Pursuit than they did in previous years...as you could simply make a guy with high Speed, Acceleration, Agility, Strength, and tackle numbers to create a very high overall player.

    Very interesting.

Yeah the "other" ratings that pretty much had no factor whatsoever in the past have more weight than the regular ratings it seems. I noticed that while I was doing UConn last night.

Yeah that annoyed me a bit. When I went to edit Scott Lutrus on UConn I figured I'd just go and bump his awareness and tackling up since his physical attributes looked fine. When it only raised his overall a few points I was like what the hell?

It's good though that the positional ratings actually serve a purpose now. Makes sense too. You can have all the speed and athleticism in the world and be a great tackler, but if you have no field awareness and take bad pursuit angles and can't get off a block, then you should have a lower rating.

Makes sense. Which is a first for EA.

It should be that way...it's like comparing someone like Vernon Gholston...he has all the physical attributes an ELITE de should have...strength, speed, all that but he hasn't translated that to the field yet.
