you need to have different gameplans for different players running different coverages, if its man ill have an inside slant going and if it oopens up ill hit it, zone ill go elsewhere or ill just audible to a HB draw if its a passing down
Maybe it wasn't third down but you ran that crossing pattern with DHB a handful of times. Motion WR from the right, snap ball, DHB runs across the field wide open. I loved the play just thought it was used WAY to much. Nothing irritated me more then those fucking counters tho.
Anyway, check your PMs.
ph yeah that one, thats a presnap motion play, theres over 15 variations of it in diff sets in the philly playbook i use, so i see it looked similar, i enjoy using presnap motion tho, but i have never once manually motioned a player surprisingly enough. I did that play out of I-form, Shotgun doubles on, and singleback with 2 strong to the right, now i know what play you meant.
I love VSN but one thing I don't like is when people cry about people gameplay. That why I haven't done a screen pass in 8 games. I probably did 10 playaction passes in 66 games so far. People cry so much that I just pick regular plays and try to win them.
What is the point of having guidelines if people wont follow them? I encourage people to PM me after games if they feel anything I did went against the spirit of the guidelines.
I USUALLY HANDLE THIS WITH THE PEOPLE I PLAY VIA PM OR AIM SO IM NOT CALLING ANYONE'S NAME OUT HERE.
One thing that has driven me crazy this year, ive had about 5 people do it is moving guys off of the LOS pre snap during a Punt. Its in the guidelines that you cant move anyone presnap. Some guys do this to get an extra blocker back deep to cheese me on punt returns, others take a guy off the line and move him all the way over to the right thinking its going to be a fake punt. If you really think im fake punting that badly then pick a regular fucking defense. Dont pick some punt defense and start moving guys around. Ive had instances where i had pretty good hunch people were fake punting, ill come out in regular D and guess what they usually call a timeout and actually punt.
Vary your freaking playbooks too, i realize that many different sets share plays this year but just because you picked a cover 3 out of your 43 10x, nickel 10x, and dime 10x hey jackass thats calling the same play 30x with different personnel on the field.
i have ZERO problem losing as you see i hover just over 500 in the tracker and rarely whine about anything, but for the love of the game PLEASE REREAD the guidelines we are supposed to play by.
I had no issues with OOBL's play in my game, but IMO he has ruined the spirit of VSN with his win at all costs mentality, non-stop crying about lack of respect, etc...
I don't really care anymore, because he killed my power rankings and I don't have to play him anymore.
But, IMO, VSN and the old MM used to be about great games ... not this bullshit where drunk fags cried because they didn't get respect.
Anyway ... no biggie. I will never write another power rankings thread, will never play OOBL in a game ever again and will never, ever mention OOBL in a post ever again.
Bold: AGREED!! I mean damn, I really wanted to play OOBL just to see how good he was. He really seemed like a good guy but the whole, "I'm the shit" "I don't get any respect" "I'll blow you out" attitude really goes against why I spend just as much time on this site as I do on my own. I enjoy playing with you guys, but people like him makes the game not fun at all. Zeus had the exact same attitude when he first got here but wise up pretty quickly.
Dave, if you plan on stopping the power ranking for sure, let me know. I was going to make a point to try to play enough games just to see if I could crack the top ten on this shitty slow game. If you really aren't going to do them I wont waste my time. Oh and if you do decide to do them and you put me in the Top 10, be sure to put my BELOW OOBL
Izzy, I agree with you, but at the same time, if you are running the same crap over and over, the AI is suppose to recognize it. At least thats what EA said. If they actually did, i dont think anyone would have a problem with people calling the same plays because they would start to not work
I don't remember a time when anyone gave a shit about what you had to say. I'm not being mean but I'm just saying. No one cares about the offensive "jugglenaut" and what the fuck he has to say.
There are guidelines and they shouldn't be broken.
I was going to hold off and let OOBL know my gripes with him the next day. I wont play the guy now because that game was probably the most "unsim" game I've played in years. Sure, I lost but I knew I was going to lose. The loss isn't what sucked, playing a game where the same plays are run over, and over, and over, and over makes me upset. You should only come out in a nickel/dime regardless of the offense's sets in passing situation. I think he may have run a nickel/dime all game long.
On offense I see a play and think, "I already used that so it's time to pick another play". Apparently I'm one of the only people that do that.
I'm putting it to rest.
95% of the PS3 guys understand what "sim" football is. If you take a look at the top of the tracker you'll notice who the guys are that have that "win at all cost" mentality. It's just a shame.
I now understand why the Raiders are so popular too. Other then if you're a REAL Raiders fan guys like to use RunDMC because he breaks everything. Button mashing the right analog stick FTW!
wow my bad houtz, I told you right before the game I was trashed, and you sat here and made it seem like everything was cool and there were just lil things you were concerned with, after I never did anything before. Meh whatever.
As far as using the Raiders, I use them for one reason, Asomugha, I have one side the field that is pretty locked down and its reassuring, McFadden also gets hurt almost every game and fumbles alot.
and I came out 3-3-5 and dollar because almost every time you had a shotgun play it had two TE 1 RB 2 WR, so I compensated for the fact you were probably passing
Real Talk: If my opponent comes out in 2 WR and I know he has a fast back that he likes to pass to the ball too, I will sit in a nickel defense. I'm not going to allow you to eat up my LB on flat passes. I dont care what down it is. Not going to happen. I just played Cop and did the same thing with Chris Johnson and I would probably do the same vs you Houtz because you've stated many times that Ronnie Brown is majority of your offense. I'm not going to sit back and let him abuse my LB's lol
btw: Cop mixed up his plays and I'm NOT complaining at all. We always have good games (Willis > White! :D ) Just giving an example of how I might defend a fast back
P.S. And another thing, I've noticed, like last year, that a lot of people like to sit in zone. If I come out in trips or twins formations and overload one side, i dont want to hear a peep.
I agree completely. However, I was coming out running the football in these situations. In real life a run game would eat up a dime defense. Not in Madden. Even so I rarely pass to the flats unless it's a screen or the defense is blitzing heavily. Although you have a great reason as to why you do it, OOBL does not. He wanted extra defenders out ther, which like I said in passing situations I understand completely. But when it's the entire game that's just not sim.
Sidenote: I have to admit me saying Ronnie Brown being my entire offense was a bit premature. I surprisingly found a passing game this year that doesn't need to rely solely on Mr.Brown. We'll have to play sometime so I can show you
What are you talking about? I come out in nickel 3-5-5 a lot because I have an extra defender to stop a run to the outside, or contain the flats, theres no such thing as a "passing" situation now. you can pass on first and 10, 2nd and 3, that doesn't matter. And yeah I justify my playcalling because there are 3 variations of philly cross in my playbook, diff formations, same with mesh, 4 diff formations, I called all of them, not the same one more then once.
Give me a warning, ban me if you want but I suggest you try playing some of these new guys around here before you complain about my playcalling. Ronnie Brown gets to the outside easily, I contain him, the times I did come out in those defenses you passed almost every one, Its obviously not helping me stop the run.
Dave: Don't stop doing your power rankings because one drunken idiot cares way too much about where he's ranked. People really enjoy your rankings every week.
Houtz: I agree of some of what you're saying, but I have to correct you on one thing. Izzy gets a lot of shit around here, but he has 100x most respect than you do. Just because you're a mod doesn't mean that you can be an ignorant asshole.
Herm: What's the problem with pulling guys off the line on punt returns? In the NFL there are sometimes two or three guys down field on punt returns, that isn't an option in this game. I have no problem if someone wants to pull a guy off the line for additional blocking. That's just a smart move, IMO.
Some of the guidelines are necessary, but others are just restrictive. To be honest, I'm having a hard time playing games against VSN'ers because the games are so boring. I feel like there's no strategy in the game as everyone plays the exact same way. Offense - 40 percent run; 60 percent pass. Most guys run 70 percent off-tackle plays. Most passes are to the TE and RB. Defense - All zone all game (mostly because bump and run is "frowned upon") while mixing in a few zone blitzes every now and then. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Well, it's not like he KNOWS you are coming out to run in these formations...
I agree that dime defense, if thats what he was doing, is BS. if it's 3-5-5, i dont really see an issue with that though, imo
I go by the rule: +/- 1 CB unless in obvious passing situation. Meaning if you come out in 2 WR, I can match with 2 CBs or go +1 and go nickel. if you come out in 3WR, i can stay in my base D, nickel or come out in dime D.

Seriously, why is matching up formations even an issue at all anymore?? This was a guideline put into place during Madden 03 (2003!!!) because cornerbacks basically played like defensive linemen with more speed and linebackers and linemen somehow kept up with wide receivers. This isn't the case any longer. If I come out in a 2 TE set and my opponent is in dime, he is going to get steamrolled. Likewise, if I come out in a 4 WR set and my opponent is in 4-6, there are going to be mismatches all across the field.
U throw a pick and all i see is endzone who deosnt return it? I have never seen someone take a dive or go out of bounds IRL. Only exception is when they are in a crowd.
