so im all pumped up about to get the lava bow. go and upgrade it and then realize that it requires 21 strength and 16 dexterity to use :doh:. my strength is at 19 so im almost there with that but my dexterity is at 11. sons o bitches.

how long did it take you to beat the game your first time through wolo? im close to 25 hours and havent even touched the 4th or 5th level.

I REALLY took my time the first time through. I was working on farming all the ores to make every weapon I could, and I was super cautious at every step. I took even more time to level up before jumping into NG+, so I was pushing 100 hours.

That said, after my PS3 died thanks to firmware update 3.1, I had to start from scratch on my other PS3. I beat it the 4th time on that machine for my Platinum in less than 60 hours.

thanks for the response. one thing that annoys me is farming ores, after getting a bunch of souls i go to try and upgrade and im always missing a few. seems like you almost have to do NG+ to get everything in the game. i couldnt imagine how much grinding you had to do to make every weapon.

? about NG+ - can you pick a new character or do you stick with the same one? im playing through as a soldier and while its a good even class, id like to try something new on my next time through.

I really love the Royalty. I was on a roll with her, I killed Phalanx, Tower Knight, Spider, Flamelurker, Dragon God, Adjudicator, and Penetrator all tonight. Going heavy on magic...much easier than playing melee, I think anyway.

Should also say that 1-3 was my favorite level yet. The design and fights, everything in it is awesome. I will probably go to 3-1 next because I need to learn the spells from Sage Freke, I've heard horrible things about that level and the 3-* worlds in general though! Are they bad?

1-3 has been my favorite level too. finally being able to beat red demons was so satisfying. the boss was kinda tough, gotta get your roll on if you want to melee. i ended up using magic on him for the most part, a little cheesey but whateva. i havent played much of level 3 but 3-1 wasnt too bad. the medusa looking guards are pretty easy if you have ranged attacks. the level is a little confusing cause its all corridors and shady passageways.

I think I'm about 55 now. I'll add you when I hope on again. I just finished all of the Valley of Defilement. The second area with the poison swamp was annoying as hell but overall I thought it was easy. Bosses were cake with my fire spells. Have to say, the music for the Maiden Astraea/Garl Vinland fight is incredible.

last i checked im level 45. ive noticed the game has gotten a little easier the further ive gotten. ranged attacks with magic and the lava bow help out a lot. havent touched the valley of defilement yet, beat 3-1 today though. ive been focusing on getting crystals to upgrade my weapons which is a pain

3-2 is pretty awesome, but holy hell is Maneater a pain. I think I'm going to just Firestorm them since nothing else I've done has worked...I got one of them to like, 15%, but then I got stunlocked and died.

^ive found that casting warding helps a lot. you can take 10x as much damage. penetrating weapons are very effective against maneater.

only got a few levels left to go (1-4,4-3,5-2 and 5-3). went for a while without beating any levels but i went on a little run last night and finished the last two levels in the tower of latria, and 4-2 which had been a huge pain the ass for me. i think im just going to focus on beating the game and not bother with white/black tendencies, which seem like a huge pain to do, and save that for NG+.

some weird glitchy things ive noticed with NPC's. im not 100% sure if its glitching out or if im not doing something right but ive referenced the demons souls wiki about 9 million times so im pretty sure im going about it the right way.

-after saving ostrava in 1-1 i totally forgot about him until i finished 1-3. i went back and was able to save him in 1-2 but he was no where to be found in 1-3. maybe hes somewhere in 1-4, idk.

-i freed yurt the chieftain in 3-2, but i ended up dying before the boss. i know yurt is supposed to go back to the nexus and start killing NPC's after you free him but once again he was no where to be found. there was even the two random corpses that showed up in the nexus but no yurt at all in 3-2 or the nexus.

-at the start of 1-3 theres the gate that leads to the dungeon where biorr and yuria the witch are being held. i got the iron keys from the fat minister but for whatever reason i still cant open the gate, got the special hat on and everything. i figured it might of been cause i was in soul form, but even in human form i cant open it.

5-2 is the spawn of Satan. Not hard but just annoying and time consuming, and the payoff is a boss that is one of the easiest in the game.

I haven't beaten 4-2 yet. I get owned on the stairs to the 2nd and 3rd Reapers most of the time. I did make it all the way down once but in the process of attacking Reaper #2 I fell off the ledge and died, lol.

Ostrava is in 1-3, when you get to the gate that initially locked (near the very beginning where the soldiers roll the flaming balls down at you) after you go through the rest of the stage and come around to the other side of the gate (where the single Fat Minister is and you can open it), he is there being attacked by a couple Red Eye Knights, you open the gate and let him through and kill the Knights. I don't know if he wouldn't be there if you hadn't saved him in 1-2 yet, I guess not. Not sure if you can get him to show up there if you've already done that.

The only tendency thing I have done was kill Executioner Miralda in 1-1. My female Royal looks pretty badass in her clothes.

^ yep ostrava was there in 1-4. got the key and went to fight king doran...but he wasnt there, all his armor and the demonbrandt was there, but no king doran lol. very weird.

just beat 1-4. very short level.hardest part was the three black phantoms at the beginning. beating the blue dragon was easy. kinda of annoying cause it took me about 300 arrows to finish him off. only have 5-2 and 5-3 left
