Games that changed your mind about a genre?

Gears of War was probably the game that got me into fps online.

Gears is 3rd person

Bioshock got me into buying games that didnt have an online. I always thoguht it was a waste of my money if a game didnt have online but Bioshock was amazing which led to em buying Assassins Creed, Mass Effect and Uncharted.

hard to believe almost 7 years ago online gaming was not that much a though in any console gamers head

2 games come to mind.

R6 vegas changed my mind about shooters. I was never a fan of them until i started playing this game


madden 2004 to present - killed my love for sports game. Sports games used to dominate my gaming time exclusivly. But the downfall of madden has really opened my eyes to the scam that is sports games. Same old same old applies

Dragon Age: Origins has made me reconsider RPG's after buying Mass Effect and barely playing it. I plan on going back to it and playing it before I even think of picking ME2.

ESPN NBA 2K5 got me into sports games

I hated RPGs prior to Mass Effect and Oblivion.

King's Quest 3 was the game that got me into strategy/RPGs.

Wipeout XL made me love racers for a while, and KOTOR gave me a new kind of game to fiend for...Bioware games.

I would also like to add that Burnout Revenge got me into racing games. I had little interest in racing games before that one but I fell in love with it. I played some of the NFS games on PS1 but that's about it. Forza really changed my mind about sim racers as well.

I still have to play Halo Wars and End War to see if I will ever have any interest in RTS's.

I absolutley hate every racing game except Freekstyle on PS2 and PURE on PS3. Its def the tricks, if they dotn have tricks I cant see myself playing a racing game cause it seems like if you dont play that game everyday and get great at it you'll never win shit.

Wolfenstein 3D and Doom got me in the FPS genre
Warcraft 2 and Red Alert got me in RTS
Diablo 1 and Final Fantasy 7 hooked me on RPG
Gran Turismo 1 convinced me that racing games could be fun
