Games that changed your mind about a genre?

Final Fantasy 8 changed my mind about RPG's although that and Super Mario RPG are the only ones I've really enjoyed. I wouldn't consider Fallout 3 really an RPG casue I enjoyed the shit out of it.

Gran Turismo 2 got me to like racing games again. Before that Mario Kart was about as far as I went.

Madden 07 Hall of Fame was the first sports game I really played.

Need for Speed Underground made me think racing games weren't as boring as Gran Turismo, much as I liked that.

Before Gears, I thought shooters were always supposed to be FPS, a theory that Halo (my first shooter) introduced me to.

`area 51 for ps2 was it for me for FPS. first ever FPS i played by myself , beat, and liked.

Turn based RPGs, hated that shit. Until Star Wars knights of the old republic.

Final Fantasy X when it comes to turn based RPGs. That game was also the very 1st final fantasy game i ever played (and owned) and it completly blew me away.

madden 2004 to present - killed my love for sports game. Sports games used to dominate my gaming time exclusivly. But the downfall of madden has really opened my eyes to the scam that is sports games. Same old same old applies

I feel the same way except substitute Madden with NCAA Football. Madden's franchise has been fucked for years. The last time they had a decent sim engine was 2002. NCAA at least had some very solid showings on the PS2 up until the move to the next gen...but the last few offerings have been "meh" so now I find myself branching out to NHL and FIFA for sports game hoping that the next installment of NCAA is worth a buy. I've completely given up on Madden.
