I don't know what twat waffle at Sony thought it would be a good idea to require double the space for a download in order to both download and install, but said twat waffle should have AT LEAST put something in the description for a game. I purchased Ni No Kuni tonight because, hey, I had a PSN card and got out of work early. Then I found out that I might not be able to get the massive file size (22 gbs split into 2 files). I honestly have not installed enough large stuff on my PS3 to know this, but what kind of retarded practice is this? Every file you download needs the space to exist on the file PLUS the space it will take to install it? What is this, 1997? Steam doesn't do that, Xbox Live doesn't do that...hell, random files or programs from the internet don't even do that.
So who knows, maybe with some deleting (of pretty much everything) and what not, I'll get it to fit. But hey! That's before we even address the fact that a 22 gb overall download of PS3 is likely to take who knows how long.Comment

Yeah, I'm basically just trying to get down low enough that it will download a 16 gb file (so, needing free space of 32 gb as far as I can tell). Any suggestions people might have as to where shit might be hiding in terms of freeing space, I'm all ears. I have wiped out basically everything but Tokyo Jungle (2 gigs), and moved all of my saves to the cloud (or deleted them) and I still only have 28 of 37 gigs free.Comment

Not really the point though. I haven't had a problem until now just because of how freaking big the file is and how dumb Sony's practice for downloads is. It's a 20gb game, so it would fit fine if it downloaded and installed simultaneously like pretty much any other service out there. And it would have been nice for them to say "Oh hey, if you have a 40gb PS3, you can't install this". Or even another fix would be instead of two files (one 5gb file and one 16gb file) you do 3 files. It seems ridiculous that the lowest you can get the 40 down to is 31gb (that's formatted)...and this game needs 32 to download and install the one file. I emailed Sony basically asking them to remove my access to it and refund me. We'll see how that works out.Comment

I agree that it's super dumb but it's no fun having to constantly delete stuff every time you want to download something new. Just get a 320 or 500gb HDD and call it a day. I bet you aren't making those concessions on your 360. What size HDD do you have on that? And on the early 360 models, you could only use, what, 13 of the 20gb? Like barely 40 of the 60gb machines?
I do think there needs to be some disclaimer though. Although when I still only had the 60gb on ps3 I never encountered that. I took it down to less than 8gb but I'm guessing I was downloading smaller stuff at the time.Comment

"I think video games is a bigger problem than guns, because video games affect people."
Note his amazing grammar skills.
Honestly, I don't give a rats ass what your views are on weapons (and PLEASE don't turn this into a gun debate), but either way, you have to admit that this is one of the dumbest things you've ever heard...

Are the games I have purchased on Steam tied to my login account, so say I wiped my whole laptop and downloaded Steam again, I would just log in and be able to re-download those games? Anyone know how that works?Comment
