Slumping TV and game sales led Sony to post a third quarter loss.


Sony reported its financial earnings (PDF) for its third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2012, noting that it generated revenue of $22.4 billion, up 6.9 year-over-year. Unfortunately for Sony, it added up to a net loss of $115 million, though there's actually a couple of reasons why the company shouldn't be too disappointed. For one, that's compared to a $1.7 billion loss a year prior. And secondly, Sony ended up with an operating profit of $534 million for the quarter, putting the company in the black for its fiscal year.

The same can't be said for Sony's TV division, which suffered a ninth straight year in the red. Sony said its "sales decreased significantly primarily in the HE&S segment, resulting from a decrease in LCD television unit sales, and in the Game segment." Looking ahead, Sony reduced its TV sales forecast by a million units, and also expects a decrease in Blu-ray player sales.

Sony also noted a decrease in gaming sales, including hardware and software related to the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation Portable (PSP), which were partially offset by sales of the PlayStation Vita introduced in December 2011.

I think this means they are doing better.

That is one of the few redeeming quailities of that unebelievably overhyped and completely mediocre game.

Just beat Resident Evil 6 last night at my friends house..took us 24 hours and 23 minutes to complete on Veteran difficulty. We got the S rank 3 times total (I got it twice, he got it once). Coincidentally enough they were always with the sidekick character hahaha.

We played the game in a specific order to get the most out of the storyline arch without spoilers being revealed. It played quite nicely as one storyline.

LEON 1, LEON 2, LEON 3, CHRIS 1, CHRIS 2, JAKE 1, JAKE 2, JAKE 3, CHRIS 3, CHRIS 4, LEON 4, JAKE 5, LEON 5, CHRIS 5.

 

Was so sad that Piers sacrificed himself at the end. Great storyline ending, they do a good job at the final cut scene where Chris is told by the BSAA officer of his next mission, which is essentially in Africa (Resident evil 5).

Highly entertaining and an awesome co-op game. I'd give it a solid 8/10.

Saw this about Remember Me.

Looks interesting enough with the fighting system (as mentioned in the vid, it looks cribbed from Batman, if not improved upon), the climbing mechanics (Uncharted)...

Dunno if there's a coming trend for more futuristic games (MG: Revengance for one) but I'm not against it after slogging through zombies, terrorists and other enemies with bandoliers and anger issues.

Still trying to finish off the Epic story of Dragon Age. I just made peace with the Werewolves in The Brecilian Forest. Heading to the Arl of Redcliffe to start the The Landsmeet.

I saw the trailer for Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen and thought it was a sequel. Turns out it's just the original game with extra content that won't be sold as DLC. Capcom being Capcom I guess.

No, I made The Dalish Leader give up and lift the curse and freeing the Werewolves. I did not kill any other elves, besides he was like 300 years old and was ready to let go of his hate. The Dalish are on my side and will help with the blight.

I did destroy the Anvil of the Void...no Golems for me I guess.

Some of the character quests in Dragon Age are hard as shit, I remembered I tried to fight the one character's mom

 

who turns into a dragon, and even though I was a high level with good equipment I got my shit pushed in in about 2 minutes haha.
