Since I started playing LBP a few days ago I can't stop playing. This game is so fucking fun. I'm trying to get some trophies I missed before and 100% all the levels.

If anyone still has the game and also has the Pirates DLC (although I'm not sure both people need it, just the host maybe?) I eed help witt the third stage. There is a part where you need four people to get a few prize bubbles.

I've started to notice here that most people discredit fighting games for the amount of skill and practice it takes to play one at a high level. One user (don't remember who) said something amongst the lines of "I don't even play street fighter because they throw fuckin fireballs and shit". That is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard regarding fighting games, but I'm digressing.

I believe that the highest quality of gameplay videos are in fighting games. The high-level play is there, and there's no tags such as "Sim", or "Freestyle", or anything like that. Another thing in which there is the highest quality IMO is tournaments of fighting games, such as EVO, Devastation, or others. Most casual people only know of the "Daigo moment".

            [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KS7hkwbKmBM"]YouTube- ‪Evo moment #37‬‎[/ame]

However, at many of these tournaments that occur annually, a lot of amazing moments happen, and not just in Street Fighter. The next clip is a BlazBlue clip. While I'm sure most of you people won't read this or will reply with comments like "I don't even know what's going on." I just wanted to share.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gijprY-2Ctk&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube- ‪Guard Crush 5 BBCS Grand Finals: SKD vs Zidane‬‎[/ame]

While I could go on all day on this topic, I'll just end it by stating that I believe that there is no greater community for a genre than the fighting game community, and the recent outbreak of fighting games returning to console or being debuted on consoles just proves that fact. Get hype.

That was me that made the fireball comment. You're entitled to your opinion as I am mine. I think fighting games suck. And how is it a "fighting" game if you have special powers like fireballs and other bullshit? But again, that is my opinion.

It's still a fighting game. and if everyone only specialized in hand-to-hand combat, you'd have a bland game. Imagine a FPS with only shotguns. Where is the strategy in that? There would be no strategy involved, and there would be no gun variety, as in Street Fighter, a known 2d-fighter, there would be no character variety. That is why there are fireballs, people who do fly across the screen, people with stretchy ass limbs: character variation. Oh, and it is not like characters can't get around said projectiles. Most, if not all, have simple ways (in SFIV, a Focus attack will eat that up) to dispose of a simple fireball. On top of that, if "uber-realism" is what gives you a chubby, then there are fighting games like Virtua Fighter. (no, Tekken and Dead or Alive aren't realistic, but hasn't that been the premise of video games since the beginning? The lack of realism? With a plumber who jumps on fictional creatures and stops a gigantic turtle from his princess? I digress.)

Are you not fighting using said "special powers"? How isn't it a fighting game? And I'd like your take on how fighting games(as a whole) suck.

That is not the same comparison at all. If wou want to make an actual comparison I would say an actualy miltary shooter (ala MW2, BF:BC2) would not be an actual shooter if you could cast magic spells at the other players. Although personally I think it's bullshit and retarded when games like MW allow you to carry around five weapons and have all of the "perks". I think shooters should be simplified. I love matches that only allow maybe pistols and a rifle. That's when you see real players. Not some pussies shooting RPG's or snipers across the map.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Tekken a fighting game that doesn't use any bullshit special powers?

Like I said before, I voiced my OPINION. I think they suck mostly because of what I said before. Most "fighting" games these days have bullshit powers and magic spells. That's not fighting in my opinionAlso I agree completely with Cheapy D from CAG and the CAGcast. He was talking about the new Mortal Kombat. He basically said the only thing he enjoyed about the old games were the fatalities. Having to learn pages of moves for ONE character is not fun. If you want to be even semi-competent in those games and nort just a button masher you have to study those games like it's homework or a job. When I play games I want to have fun, not do homework.
I'm sure you are thinking "Well, you have to "study" any game to really get good at it. To an extent that is true but it's also another reason why I rarely play online games at all. The people that play MW2 ten hours a day just to be good are insane in my opinion. Hey, if that's makes you happy, great. Obviously they are getting something out of it. I'm not going to invest that kind of time into ONE game. There are too many great games out there to play.
I also think JRPG's suck as well. I don't want to "play" a game that the computer plays for me. Press A to enter battle...then watch basically a cutscene where your character does everything and you watch hit points subtract. Fuck that. Dumb.

It would really make no sense to use magic spells when those games are trying to have a sense of realism when a game such as BlazBlue, or Street Fighter, is not. I see what you're saying though, although I can't say I fully agree with it.

I have fun "studying" for those games. I actually play them online sort of religiously(I probably have 30-40 hours logged into Blazblue That I got last Tuesday, and about 160-175 hours logged into SSFIV, combined with the countless hours spent watching tournaments and what not).

As for your other question, Tekken has a lot of characters that are usually don't have bullshit powers, except for usually one in EACH game (minus Tekken 4?), I can tell you that in Tekken 1,2, 5, and 6, one character could shoot laser beams, and in 3 one could incinerate the ground... Virtua Fighter is "no bullshit powers", and most, if not all of the moves actually look realistic. The games where you have PAGES of moves, ironically, are the Virtua Fighters, and the Tekken's, as compared to a Street Fighter (most chars have 4-6 "special moves") or BlazBlue.

Yeah, I can see why people love those games, I'm just not one of them. I think fighting games are more geared to the type of person that maybe only buys a few games a year. I am obviously not one of those people.

Another thing that annoys me about nearly all fighting games (Minus probably Mortal Kombat) is that they are so Japanese. I really have zero interest in Japanese type games. I can't stand anime and I really think that Japan ahsn't been a force in the gaming industry in quite a few years. Not anything like back in the 80's and early 90's, but I digress. My main issue is with the stupid character models and the even dumber names. Although I think Tekken may take the cake as in bot categories as far as fighters are concerned. Didn't they have some character simply named Jack or something? And didn't they also have a character with a lion or tigers head? Fucking dumb.

That's why out of all fighting games the only one I could bear was MK because of the more "down to earth" characters (ninjas and martial ex-boxers, etc.) and the cool ass fatalities. Learning all of the different moves and actually learning how to pull off the fatalities (stand exactly two feet away, press high kick, wait 1.5 seconds, press high punch) really detracted from the game for me though.
                      Just my opinion though.

The sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum is Batman: Arkham City.

Also, Tekken and Street Fighter are making a game together.
