Injuries continue to destroy my team. In the last two matches I've had to trot out a back 4 of Riise-Baird-Grygera-Kelly. Halliche is away on African Cup duty, Senderos and Hughes are hurt. Both only for a couple weeks, but it was still enough to concede 8 goals in the last 2 games. We did beat West Brom 4-2, behind a Andy Johnson hat trick, but we got killed by Man U, 6-0.

And those are just the minor injuries. I lost Danny Murphy in the Man U game for 5 weeks. Murphy's been a key player, turning in 2 goals and 8 assists for a 7.22 rating. I also lost Steve Sidwell for 4 months in the same match.

The only positive note is that both occurred in January, so I have time to look for some emergency signings.

We're through to the Carling Cup final (against Chelsea), still in the FA Cup, and we've made it to the knockout rounds of the Europa League, where we have to face Napoli. The massive amount of games we've had to play this season has undoubtedly been a factor in the # of injuries I'm sure.

I signed Maurice Edu from Rangers for £900k, Darron Gibson from Man U for £725k, and brought in Mehmet Topal on loan from Valencia. I needed all 3 now that all 3 of my central midfielders are injured.

In the table, 22 games in, we have 9 wins, 7 draws, and 6 losses. We've scored 40 goals, and conceded 43. My defense hasn't really been as bad as the 43 suggests, as 17 of those came in 3 games, all on the road, against Man City, Man U, and Spurs. Either way, we still are really leaky defensively, and it doesn't help obviously that half my defense is hurt. All that being said, we're still 8th in the table, and if we can pull off a win against Chelsea, we'll be back in Europe next season..

Ruiz and Johnson have scored 9 goals each, Zamora has 5, and Dempsey has 4.

So I've started up with Hamburg. My first friendly threw an interesting surprise at me. Serbian central mid Gojko Kacar looks like he makes an excellent defensive mid. He has the attributes to play central defense and actually can play there. He can play anywhere up the spin, including striker. My plan was to have him be the anchor man in a 4-3-3. My first match, I notice he is often up ahead of the 2 MCs that he's supposed to be backing up. I overlooked that he had a "Gets Forward Whenever Possible" PPM, along with "Runs with Ball Through Center". So he's useless as an anchor man. His Passing and First Touch are both 10, so he kinda sucks for further up the pitch. Given his Heading, Finishing, and Compure are all good, I'm considering retaining him so he's competent as a striker and using him as the greatest defensive forward ever seen. Its either that or sell him.

Might try that. He's also got shit stamina, so its really a whole host of issues. Kinda dampens the game for me a bit, since he was a key I saw as key to rebulding Hamburg...

January 2013 transfer window. Currently sitting 5th on 40 pts, (12-4-4, 39 GF, 21 GA) and 9 points behind leaders Man City. Spurs are two points back with Chelsea and Arsenal 1 and 2 points ahead respectively.

Transfer plans so far have focused on youngsters-
Leo, 18 year old Argentinian LB from Boca for £1.13 mil
Giuseppie Prestia, 19 year old CB from Juve for £1.6 mil
Laurentiu Branescu, 18 year old GK from Juve for £1.9 mil

Agents seem to love offering me Juve players. These two join Frederik Sorensen in the Juve expat club. Guess they love the black and white stripes

Pending transfers are Daniel Sturridge in for £2.5 mil (finally!) and perhaps Claudemir on a loan from PSG

Dan Gosling was sold for Nott Forrest after losing patience with not playing. £3.5 mil

My U-18 squad is top of their group with 44 goals for and 8 against through 10 games :|

15 Year Old Michael Kalambay has scored 16 in 15 games for them. I don't know what level would be right for him to train at...

Just went on a signing binge, using my scouts reports to identify talented U18s that I can buy on the cheap. Targeted 5 or 6 from around Europe to strengthen the club

Just beat Sunderland in the Carling Cup Semi 1-0 and 2-1 and Middlesbrough defeated Arsenal 2-1 on agg. Back to back derbies, only this time it takes place at Wembley!
