As Fappin says, there will be a message telling you which players have been called up for international duty. In the bottom right there will be a button for 'friendly instructions'. You can then set it to 'None, 45 minutes, or withdraw from team'

If you do 45 mins the coach will only play them for a half, reducing the chance of injury. If you withdraw them, it eliminates the chance of injury but also can make them angry as they don't get a Cap and rep their country
