I have to give my scouts credit for finding Jeffrey Gouweleeuw. I signed the kid thinking he'd be a cheap third defender because I dislike Mike Williamson. He had 3.5 star potential as a bonus, good but not great. Since he came in to the team in Feb/March of last season, he has been the rock. I have him set as a Ball Playing Defender and his composure next to Steven Taylor means he has played the most of all my defensive options
Also, Marcos Rojo is a beast of an LB. Fantastic signing on my partComment

I've had about 10 mil each year, supplanted by player sales. I have structured a lot of my signings over 48 months, so that's helped. When we were Top 6 in January last season, he also reupped my budget to £10 mil (on top of the £10 mil I spent in the summer) and then another £10 mil this summer.Comment

All my African players are doing ANC qualifying in midweek, draining me for an away tie with Lyon. Instead of Ba/Cisse/Diame/Tiote I am having to play Emil Larssen, Jonathon Periera and Colo as a DM. Still winning 1-0 but it's tightComment

Ended 1-1 in Lyon after I gave away a PK. Can't help but feel if I'd had Papiss up front it was a win
Second place in the group with a 1-2-0 record and 5 points. Schalke on 7, Lyon on 4, Olympiakos on zeroComment

Just had one of those games that gets you pumping your fist at the computer, 3-2 against Wolves
We get up 1-0 early, through a Ba strike. Looks like we will cruise to an easy win over relegation fodder. Steven Taylor has other thoughts though, getting skinned by Steven Hunt and then pulling him down for a straight red on 32 minutes.
Switch to a 4-3-1-1 formation, pulling of Ba and Sam for Gouleweeeuw and Diame. To make matters worse, just after half time
To make matters worse, Clerc suffers a broken leg in the 37th, forcing me to bring on Rojo and use all of my subs
Hunt scores an easy tap in off a Krul save in the 40th. Then Fletcher abuses Simpson and lofts a nice ball for Vokes to head in. 2-1 heading in to half time.
I give the boys a bollocking. I know they are down a man, but they were playing like shit
Krul makes some nice saves to keep us in it, and then Cabaye receives the ball on the edge of the box to smash in a belter in the 73rd. 2-2. I'm happy with rescuing a draw and pull back to 'counter'
Which team does with aplomb. 91st minute, Cisse receives a clearence from the defence. Giuliano pulls off his man and Cisse finds him on the break. Runs away from his defender, slots past Hennessey, 3-2 NEWCASTLE!

11 games into a save with Fulham (mid-November international break). 6th in the table, 6 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses. 25 goals, 20 conceded.
5 wins and 1 loss at home with 13 for and 7 against.
1 win, 2 draws, 2 losses away from home with 12 for and 13 against.
This latest international break has really hurt my side though, literally. I lost Brede Hangeland for 4 to 5 months, so basically the rest of the season, with an LCL injury. Also lost Bryan Ruiz for 3 to 4 weeks with a hip injury. He has 8 goals and 3 assists in just 8 appearances. Schwarzer is out 2 to 3 weeks as well.
Neil Etheridge has to start the next match AT Man City, without Hangeland in defense. God, that's going to be a bloodbath.
edit: It was. 6-1 Man City. Immediately recalled David Stockdale from his loan at Ipswich. I don't care that Schwarzer's only going to miss 1 or 2 more matches. I can't give away another game with Neil back there, lol. Especially since one of them is a vital match with 2 to go in the Europa League group stage.
double edit: Forgot I can't register Stockdale, so that was a pointless recall.Comment

Went to Schalke and snuck out with a 1-0 win. Cabaye started just coming off an injury and couldn't go past half time. Davide Santon was injured in the 44th and Danny Simpson was injured in the 61st, meaning we spent 30 minutes down to 10 men because I had no subs. They played valiantly, and we qualified for the knockout stages!Comment
