I didn't know this. I tried pressing select when I'm just running around and nothing happens. I thought it was supposed to bring up the scoreboard.
Holding it brings up the scoreboard, if someone is in your sights you can tap it and it'll spot enemies. There's also a sniper rifle attachment that auto spots once u unlock it.
