Xbox Live outage knocks gamers offline

Xbox Live is currently experiencing a significant service disruption, with many users reporting to sign in to Microsoft's online gaming service. The outage — which inconveniently comes during peak weekend gaming hours — has subsequently rendered a large part of the console's functionality useless for the time being. Many of the most popular apps on Xbox 360 (including Netflix, HBO Go, Hulu, and YouTube) are tied to Xbox Live Gold subscriptions; if you're unable to sign in, you won't be able to access any content. Microsoft has confirmed the ongoing issue on its Xbox support website, pledging that "every available resource" is currently working to get players back online. In the meantime, the company is providing status updates every 30 minutes.

Games with Gold for July 1: Defense Grid: The Awakening

As part of the “Games With Gold” program announced at E3 in June, I wanted to give you a heads up the next title will be Defense Grid: The Awakening. Normally 800 Microsoft Points, Defense Grid: The Awakening will be free for Xbox LIVE Gold members July 1st through July 15th .

Who cares? It's fucking $10. PS+ gave us Deus Ex, Xcom, Saints Row 3 and who knows what else last month and this is the bullshit we get for this bullshit program?

I also love how on the xbox.com site they say that Games With Gold will include "some of the most popular games and ones demanded by the community".

Yeah, everyone is clamoring for this shit.

I also have my tin foil hat on and I'm calling conspiracy on this debale and all the backlas (deservedly) M$ is getting right now. If you Google anything related to the announcement of this program EVERY article that comes up says what Handle posted way back on page 4 of the E3 MS Press conference thread. They say that the program will Start in July and run through the end of the year and "will start with Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed 2". Yet somehow their website uses clever wording that says "will include Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed 2". I guarantee they changed the wording and now they are wondering why so many people are outraged over this bullshit game when they were expecting those two this month.
