They could have used HD DVD? No, that format DIED.
They could have contacted Sony for Blu Ray? Are you fucking serious? They are going to pander to their direct competition, to use their technology on MS consoles? Are you so blind to the idiocy here? You don't fund your competitors to this degree! You don't ADMIT INFERIORITY to your competitor!
But Yes, you are right, it would be ideal to be all on one disc, but you fail to comprehend how completely unfeasible that is for the situation, because it simply isn't an easy task to work around. They made their bed with console design SIX years ago.
p.s. This thread is about Mass Effect 2, thus that is what i'm speaking about. I don't know, or care, about Castlevania or what it was like. I would agree that constant disc changing would be an annoyance, but still otherwise not all that big of a deal, but again I don't know specifically what it was like with that game. I've only ever seen disc swapping in RPG's in the past, like Final Fantasy games where it's segmented into 4 discs, again, what's the big deal about changing the damn disc every 20 hours? Nothing. Probably a benefit to getting off your ass for a moment more than anything.
Do you really think that MS will stick with the dvd format with tbeir next console?Comment

I would like to posit two questions to your response. It's not like MS knew HDDVD was going to fail when the 360 launched, just lke Sony had no idea bluray would be successful. So why would a forward thinking company like MS who pushes things like digital downloads not go with a media oltion that has far more space? And yes, going bluray was definitely an option. Yes its Skny, but its a totally different branch of the company from the gaming division. Its no different than MS licensing their dvd drive from Phillips or another electronics company.

sony owns blu ray so they have a vested interest in making it succeed. MS has no vested interest in hd dvd and would only have wanted it to succeed to fit into there profit needs. Plus the fact that blu ray is pretty irrelevant to this generation of game developers. So why would they worry about using any format other than dvd when only a handful of games suffer from the use of this format...suffer meaning a lack of space and forcing some games to use 2 discsComment

Can you also pull all of my quotes from when I bash the ps3 for stupid shit? Or does your 360 Defense Force only come out when I talk negatively about that?Comment

If you had a choice, ala Final Fantasy or Castlevania, owning both consoles, which version would you get? The one that has multiple discs and in most cases less quality audio because it's been compressed to fit on the disc, or the one that has everything on one big bluray? Just sayin'.
ME is a bit of a different beast because it started as an exclusive on the 360 and you will never get to play the first on PS3 so it's much easier just to stick with the 360 version and deal with the rare disc change.Comment

I'm not saying you're that, I'm just saying that only a fucking sloth would actually consider something so trivial to be a reason to buy or not buy a game.Comment

You might be "Just sayin'" but it's still a stupid point. Never in my life did I stand at a game store and think "Well, if I get it on this system, I won't have to stand up once or twice in the course of 60 hours of game play to change the disc". Who would think like that aside from perhaps the laziest bastard on Earth?

Obviously if you only have a 360 getting a game that requires disc changes isn't even a second thought. By why deal with it if you don't have to and have the option?
Also, like I said, I highly doubt MS will stick with standard dvd next gen. The games being made today are getting larger and larger and require much more space on a disc.
It' almost like saying why buy a brand name shampoo when you can get the same brand name shampoo with conditioner for the same price? Not the greatest analogy I know.Comment

Im with Twigg though. There is no reason to buy FF 13 or Castlevania on the 360. You're saying not wanting multiple disc is just laziness, but it's more convenience, necessity. You can't hate on Twigg because he prefers something over another. Multiple discs can be a bitch and def avoided in certain instances. I read a guy bought Lost Odyssey used and it has 4 discs. Well that 4th disc didn't work and he was fucked.
Also with Microsoft not going bluray, that complete BS. I don't know the exact details with developers, but you bet your ass multiplatform games would be longer and more shit cause they know they have the space and room to maneuver.Comment

I hate K-Mart sometimes.
Ridiculous game deals right before a AAA Title comes out... MFers, I bought the shit at GameStop wholesale and you bastards don't have the decency to have trade-in deals yourself?
I just need to suck it up one day and ignore the DLC you get if you go through other retailers.Comment
