[360] Xbox Live increasing $10 per year

Xbox Live Gold subscribers might want to renew before November 1, when the price of a yearly subscription to the service jumps $10 in North America.

Starting November 1st. What a crock of shit. I should've known those money hungry, nickle and diming dickheads what tack on a few bucks when the ESPN shit was supposed to start. Oh yeah, and the "improved voice chat".

Suck a dick M$. I think I'm letting it lapse just for principal. I can't remember the last time I played online on the 360 anyway.

You can shove your "great value" up your ass. I love all the comments in the thread. It looks like I'm not the only one that feels this way. It would be hilarious if a huge chunk of people just canceled their subscriptions.

The only option is hopefully finding subscription cards on sale but I'm guessing now with the price hike they are going to be harder to find and more expensive now.

So in two more years when they jack it up to $100 a year you won't have a problem either, right?

It';s the principle of the thing. People need to show with theiur wallets that this is bullshit. Can I afford it? Of course. But I know a ton of people that can't and with the economy the way it is I can't believe these douche bags have the gall to pull this shit. Especially when their biggest online competitor is Sony who offers a FREE service.

This bullshit is no different than them jacking up the price oif arcade games over the past few years.

          Microsoft.

As a guy with a gamerscore of 100k+, I'm being brutally honest in saying...

No. I will not. I will hold on to the 48 hour trials I get in free games, or at the very most, buy a month's worth when and if I need it for a game. I'm not buying another years worth of a subscription after this, because this is bullshit.

According to my xbox license transfer profile, I've got over 1k worth of content purchased/downloaded to my xbox. I've got more than 120gb worth of strictly DLC and Arcade games (its true, didn't have a game installed when I filled it, had to buy a 250) and over 300 games played according to mygamercard.net.

In my collection sits 127 Arcade titles and 183 full retail games. There are pictures of my collection floating around the web. Look it up.

Gotten the picture yet? I've been bleeding neon green for two years now since I first got the system. Living in Canada, this means the 59.99 I would have been paying before suddenly becomes 69.99. And I don't get Last.fm OR Espn. So I've got a lesser service than my American counterparts that's suddenly going to cost more money.

And I'm done with you. 10 bucks may not seem like much, and its not. I've surely got 10 more dollars to spend laying around. Its the fact they're doing a fucking price increase for goddamn facebook and twitter, since thats all that I've really had 'added' to my dashboard since I started with the system oh so long ago.

Oh, and I guess I forgot the Avatars and XMB lag that didn't exist before. Thanks for adding those too, I guess.

I'm out. I'll be silver by years end and will stay that way unless something multiplayer wise peaks my interest.

In fact, I've been having so much fun with my new PSP lately, that maybe I'll run out and buy a new slim PS3 to go with it (to replace this busted POS system).

I might be one customer. But my purchases were equivilent to tenfold. Reply

But Xbox Live is loads better than PSN!

Oh wait it's not 2007 any more.

Not had a Gold membership since I got my PS3. I get all my multi player games on my PS3 now, and the odd exclusive on my 360. Over the past 12 months most of the people I know have traded in their 360s for PS3s. The 360 is losing it's appeal. Reply

Basically all of my close friends got rid of their 360's a year or so ago and we all play on PS3 together. The one friend that still has his 360 hasn't been online with it in over six months.

I don't see what the big deal is. They were already charging $50 for a service everyone else provides for free; what's another ten bucks? Reply

Yeah, but he is exactly who M$ is targeting with their completely overpriced peripherals and charging for Live in the first place. If this guy is done what hope do they have?

I hope they go down in flames.

everyone knew this was coming, and this won't hurt M$ at all...for now

this opens a door that no one minds because they persuade themselves to justify it by saying things like it's only 33 cents a day, eventually there will come a time where they'll defend a price hike by saying it's only $1 a day. With meager map packs soon to be going for $20 and the rising cost of basic service, M$ is going down a road that could end up shrinking their marketshare.

It's only a matter of time before Sony starts charging for online access.
Their super deluxe PSN is just the first step.

If sony charges then people will sue just like the Linnux case. It is a promoted feature by Sony. No way the turn around and start charging.

I got free Live till Nov 2012, and instead of $30 a year when I run out I'll just buy the $40. Who gives a fuck. Realistically if you can;t afford to pay $60 a year on live which is $5 a month, then dont fucking buy the 360.

The Linux case is going nowhere and neither would that other suit.
I suspect Sony already has legal language written into the user agreement none of us have ever actually read.
