NHL 11 Impressions

I like the realism of the player and puck physics. I just don't find the gameplay smooth or quick enough. Hockey is one of, if not the, fastest game on earth. I feel like this game is being played on sand rather than ice. As mentioned earlier, the passing sucks as well. It's anything but realistic.

I've seen people post vids of real hockey/nhl 11 using youtube doubler (plays them side by side).

Speed was the same, just the game makes it look slower although you do gain the same ground in the same amount of time.

However, I believe hustle is severely under powered and faster skaters truly can't take off like they do in real life.


I think the passing is great, I just believe that most NHL gamers are too used to just how easy passing has always been in the game, because it's never been anything close to challenging and everything was always tape to tape previously.

passing has been a killer for me.

i like what they are trying to do, give you more control of your pass, both speed and direction, but the way they implemented is not working.

i havent played with the new tuners yet, ill prolly get some games in tonite and see how i like it

Quick passes are absolutely atrocious. More than half the time they don't even make it to their intended target because they are so slow.

I like the accuracy and strength of the passes. My issue is when I'm hitting right trigger to pass and my guy just holds on to the puck and then gets it taken away.

This was what I was saying in my rant a few days ago that I posted. It just feels like once you get the puck you are stuck with it for a few seconds, but if you want to do a one touch pass you have to hit the button before it even gets to your player.

I'm honestly getting near my end with this game unless something major happens. HUT is fucked because all people do is dance through your line up with their NHL players and score on your shitty goalies, and in my be a gm, every goal the comp scores is the same, toe drag near the net and score. Poke check does nothing to any of these, and I'm just getting fed up with it.

Any chance they are going to allow roster sharing? I got it on release but I put it up and just happened to come upon it. I was going to open it but read you can't roster share. It's not a killer for me but I could sell it unopen for more and put it towards NBA 2K11.

Overall I'm a hoops fan over hockey fan. Not saying I didn't like NHL 10 but I played 2k way more. Saying that, it's not that huge of a loss if I don't have updated community rosters, since I don't know most of these guys except for the stars that go beyond the hockey world.
