I wish I still had a favourite baseball team.
Since Montreal lost the Expos, I could give a fuck about baseball.
    Losing your team really sucks.

The game takes some time getting used to, once you get the terrible controls down the AI is going to be very beatable. That and just being patient on offense helps. Online I'm noticing a lot of people rushing shots and forcing passes, and that doesn't work on this game anymore. I still say that the AI man to man defense needs to be turned up a bit tho. I'm tired of seeing defenders fall all over the court from simple cross moves, makes the game look like NBA Jam at times. But, other than that it's a solid challenge and I've gotten realistic stats off of Super Star and Sim. The game seems to be very momentum based as well, once you've drained a few shots it's pretty easy to get going on a decent run. I'd start off trying to get some easy layups and then expand the offense from there, seems to work well.

For me top sports games would fall like this

      1. iRacing (most realistic sport sim and best online experience)
2a. NBA 2k8 (still gets the nod for better controls, better man D, more fluid game overall, not getting stuck in animations, no delays, and still a realistic sim product)
      2b. NBA 2k11
      2. APF 2k8
      3. NFL 2k5
      4. CH 2k8

The ideal bball game would be 2k8 with the physical post D and realistic passing that we see in 2k11

These impressions are really making me consider picking this up. I just have a really hard time dropping $60 on a bball game since I'm not really into the NBA. I was able to pick up 2K10 on black friday last year for $30 so I may just wait and see if someone runs that deal again.

It's a good game but damn did they make passing tough. Seems like every game, the CPU has sticky arms and grab everything.

I'm not getting any better. Game is incredibly hard.

If you don't have many hours to devote to learning the fighting game like combos needed to perform on offense, I would suggest passing on the game. It's a great game, but a lot of time is needed to be even mediocre at itl

I know it sounds weak but one can put the gamestyle to arcade and adjust sliders from there then turn down gamespeed

              it could help

                I feel ya brother.
Slider work in full effect here.
I don't want to cheat to win, but I want a fighting chance.
Closest game I've had so far was a 97-91 loss (I was Portland, the CPU Phoenix).

What difficulty are you guys playing on?

I'm getting the beats on Superstar-Sim but I realize it's mainly because I'm just trying to iso on offense with my best player, and playing awful defense. I just need to figure out what team I'm going to use, then start mastering plays based for individual players.

Think i'm going to start putting a ton of time in with Milwaukee.

                    Pro-Sim in Standard.
                    Pro-default in My Player.

I'm the same Killa, I play junk/cheese offense because I'm terrible at running plays. Also, sometimes the players wont run the play in enough time. Stand in the blue circle and it takes 3-5 seconds for players to react/get into position and run the play.

                      I'm on pro/sim.

My issue is time. I'm new to 2k to begin with, and can only squeeze in a couple hours per week on the game.

I get into situations where i can't remember how to do what I want to do, and that's what's killing me. Liike I'll want to pro hop or drop step, but fuck up the command and hilarity ensues. And I can never remember how to dunk down low, so I end up missing 2 ft jump shots with no one around me.

I wouldn't even worry about that stuff, u can keep it simple and still be effective on offense. I don't use any of that iso motion junk aside from some basic crosses. It's harder this year, but good ball movement can still create great offense. The key is just reading and reacting, forget about the iso motion entirely and focus on everything that's happening off ball. If you get open lanes and jumpers then you'll never have to worry about the iso motion moves.

Yeah you don't need the moves to be successful at offense WT2B.....try to run some double screens to get your shooters open, once you get your timing down you'll be nailing those open jumpers.....pick and pop plays are good as well

I don't use a ton of isomotion because like you said it is tough trying to remember how to pull off a lot of those moves......out of the 1,000 moves the game is capable of, I use about 3 of them....lol....a cross over here and there and a hesitation move thrown in........no need to start trying to use the right side of my brain now lol

Yeah, I think you guys are right. I'm not going to bother trying to master the iso stuff anymore. It's too frustrating.

What about the post, though? When I get the ball down low, with my back to the defender, i'm lost. Basically I just hold down the iso button and jerk the shot stick randomly. Sometimes I just want to try a simple spin off the defender, but i'm lost. Any suggestions?
