    [ALL] PS3 v. 360

I've been on the 360 for a while, but, thinking about making the leap over to PS3...the BluRay addition intrigues me, and, I don't want to spend cash money for XBL anymore (just a waste of money considering all I do is get updates and rosters and shit, I rarely play on line).

So, I am looking to trade in the 360, all the shit with it, including games (NBA2K11, NCAA11, Red Dead being the new titles, and some old titles as well that will probably net me magic beans). I also have a fuckin Wii sitting around the house that never gets play.

So, I'm trying to gauge if I'd have to pay anything out of pocket to upgrade...

I also need the following questions answered, pretty plz...

Netflix capability? If so, restrictions on what I can watch (like only Sony and affiliated companies) or, pretty much anything my subscription already offers?

Which is considered the better "entertainment" system...I don't game as much, I would prefer to use my system as a total entertainment system, as I use it for movies, hopefully BluRay, etc. Is the PS3 better value in that department?

Anyway, just general thoughts to what I am considering an "upgrade"

    Help an old MM'r / VSN'r out, fellas...pretty plz.

i think when you look for the better "entertainment" system, 360 might have the ps3 beat. Not sure though..

    Sincerely

PS3 without a doubt. If you add movies to the list, not just games, the PS3 wins there. Also goes in when you said you don't game as much, so you should have the ability to watch movies in better quality, since that's what you'll be using it for.

I hear you...but, I will say this, I don't use the 360 to its full functionality in regards to it being an entertainment system.

I use the Netflix aspect A LOT...I don't use it for DVD's, as I have an upconverting DVD player for that, but the BluRay is a piece of hardware that I want to use with my TV and I don't want to buy a BluRay player if I can get it with the PS3. I'd like to use it a little more for Music, but its not completely important.

        So, thoughts?

Also, I know the 360 online experience is better...but its going to be costing a lot now, and I don't play online with any kind of regularity...I use it for updates and rosters and shit, but thats about it...

I think even if I pay a little out of pocket, I'd be ahead of the game before the end of the year.

The new Netflix interface is awesome. It's disc-free so you can just navigate your PS3 menu and access it there. No need to get up to put a disc in anymore. They also redid the menus and they are way slicker, run smoother and organized better. As for movie selection, it's the exact same that Netflix offers on their website, as far as I know. Seems like Netflix as a whole has improved the instant selection recently, it was lacking for a while.

I have never owned a 360 but having played both for years and owned a PS3 for the last two, I don't think I could ever go back. I'm a Blu-Ray fanboy though, I love movies and I especially love analyzing a movie's visuals/cinematography. There is no substitute for watching a movie in 1080p, IMO. If you are that type of movie watcher, I recommend it.

The web browser is awesome too. Watching youtube or a streamed TV show on my 40 inch is definitely more ideal than watching on my laptop. Before I got Showtime, I would watch Weeds and Dexter on there and the quality was great, depending on the stream source of course.

Any idea what you could get from GameStop for a perfectly working 360? How about a Wii?

imo, the ps3 is by far the better entertainment system. thats really all i use it for. its playback functions are much more user friendly then the 360. plus i like that i can stream save vids/music/pics to the hard drive. you dont have to transfer them to a flash drive to move them over

as far as trade value, u are gonna have to talk to gamestop

                  For the browser ...
                  1. Can it handle HD videos and flash content?

2.Is the text readable? Or is it blurry ...I'd like to be able to read the occasional article or forum browse.

3.Is there any mini keyboard like 360 has?
Best reason to have a license.

Yes. For youtube hd however, you have to go to ps3youtube.com. Not sure why YouTube's own site won't do HD through the PS3 browser.

Its like a computer? You can zoom if you want to, its easy with the controller once you get used to it.

Yes, also any bluetooth keyboard/mouse works. Not sure about usb keyboards&mice but I believe they work.

It handle's flash very well from my experience.

You can zoom in easily so reading the text shouldn't be a problem.

For the OP. I sold all of my 360 back in March and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket for the PS3. I got the $300 120GB version. They key is to NOT sell your stuff at Gamestop. Just post it on craigslist.

The text is sharp on a web browser. Not blurry at all. You can zoom in and out without losing clarity.

Speaking as someone who has both, the Xbox (IMO - don't kill me for this PS3 guys) is the better gaming machine, especially if you're into games like Halo and Gears and like the social aspect of Xbox live. That's why I got back on Xbox. But I still use my PS3 for Netflix because the new app is sooooo much better. Just the search function puts the PS3 app miles ahead of the Xbox for me.

Anyways, if there aren't any exclusives on Xbox you would miss and you are looking for superior Netflix capability and Bluray playback, the switch to PS3 is a no brainer..

(I thought I wouldn't miss Gears or Halo when I switched, but I was wrong!)

I only play sports games so that's what makes PS3 the no-brainer for me.
