Thanks to you both, again. Will have to go back and try to figure out what the issue is.

I dig this "it should be free" business... the DLC was made after the main game was finished and is an extra file to add to the main game save.
And yes, while it's super important that the character is in fact a Prothean, the DLC's going to be just like the Kasumi and Zaeed bits from ME2.
Extra flavor for a decent story and a new crewmate to leave on the ship when you're done.
Honestly, you could not pay the $10 and it wouldn't kill you.Comment

I would have never paid for that Zaeed shit. Loyalty mission was shit and he was a shit teammate.

yeah it was free to anyone who bought it as motivation to get people to buy new. now they have gone one step further by making you buy new...plus charging you $10 for it....lol
Ugh...come on...I highly doubt that it is on the disc. That is just a silly thought. Again, 1st day DLC isn't what is wrong here...it is that they are charging those that buy the regular retail edition and giving it to the collector edition purchasers for free. Even then, it isn't as gross as it could be (based on what Bioware says) because what is on the disc is a complete game. Fucking relax.
They push the bar a little more every year because they can. People will buy it so why shouldnt they sell it. Its not just you jhenn, its all the people in the world like you who blindly purchase this shit without even knowing if its worth it or not.
@jay...im sure we can all afford the lousy 10 bucks. thats not the point. why not just charge $70 for the game. or how about $15 for the DLC....maybe $20.....maybe we should pay $70 for the game plus $20 for that opening day DLC......im sure we can all afford that....right? cause thats were its heading
Plus, what you once paid $10 for was worth that $10...now, its worth about 10 cents, but people still pay for itComment

this makes no sense. your ok with opening day DLC as long as everyone has to pay for it....why shouldnt people who pay more for the collectors edition get something for free? Its EA's way of motivating people to spend more money for that edition of the game. its basically like a pre DLC sale for them...or pre ordering. it allows them to get the money right now rather then having it trickle in as they sell it.
I get why EA is doing it this way, but you're stupid if you think that this is the only reason that there is first day DLC.Comment

DLC in general is a joke. but companies keep pushing the line with it see no resistance from customers and push the line further. I really have no idea what it would take for customers to say, hold up enough with this bullshit...but i honestly think it'd never happen. Especially not when a good % of gamers will go as far as to make excuses why the DLC "makes sense" and eagerly purchase it all. Like I understand buying it, but will never understand the people who essentially argue in favor of it.
It's not even worth getting mad about anymore really. It's been made clear by us consumers that companies have a free pass to pimp as much DLC as they want. So it's not really a surprise at all that they'd try to get people to pay an extra $10 for a crew member and 1-2 hour mission to go along with him. It's obviously not "worth" it, since the other crew members in the game can't all be worth $10 with the game only being $60...but whatever.Comment

Curious JHen: did your ME2 on PS3 (which is what I'm assuming you're referring to), have some pretty crappy sound sync issues? I've read some stuff from a year ago on the web, but nothing recent and playing through now on my PS3 copy of ME2...yikes. Lots of bad drops in sound.
So I upgraded my HDD again (500GB, 7200 RPM), it fixed 90% of the skipping issues including all of the gameplay skips, but I still noticed some choppy audio that wasn't fixed by the new HDD. FWIW, I still have that same 500GB HDD still installed and it works great, maybe even better than the factory HDD from Sony. So yeah, it stuck out to me.Comment
