i only had 3 hours to play last night...
was up near Solitude so I decided to try and free Thorald Gray-Mane being held captive at Northwatch Keep. Guard was a total Imperial dick and since I'm feeling like I want to side with the Stormcloaks eventually, I decided to push my luck. All it took was me looking around to anger the exterior guards. 3 archers lined the walls and a couple magic wielding swordsman were on the ground. I quickly realized these assholes in their fancy pants elven armor were beyond my current skill so I'd have to go beyond all out Destruction attacks. With wise use of Fury and Fear I made all 5 of these assholes basically kill each other while I cackled like a madman and smoked a bowl. The one lone survivor got to feel the wrath of my conjured blade as he begged for mercy from his knees.
I proceed into the Keep, hoping it's not going to get that much more intense, but it did. I snuck in and saw a lone guard standing around. I put a chunk of ice through his head, but didn't realize he was standing by an open corridor and 4 guards came flying around the corner. A quick flurry of Fear spells and a thundering shout before I bolted the fuck outta there. After they returned to their business I decided to creep back into the Keep and give it another go.
Upon return, the same lone guard was where I last saw so since I now knew his buddies were hanging out in the hall, I figured I'd play more mind tricks. Fury was thrown down from the shadows and he unleashed his sword and charged at his friends. I continued to hide at the top of the steps and when the battle would spill out into the base of the staircase I'd throw fury on anyone I could see. Not before long there was 4 more dead guards and I proceeded deeper into the keep.
I stumbled into a 2 level chamber, seeing an Archer up top with a Swordsman on the stair, another wise use of Fury quickly put them to battle. However as I hid outside the room, I became aware of another presence that I didn't see...a Mage Interrogator. He made very quick work of the two guards. Now that it was him and me, I decided to test my magical skills with this powerful foe.
I cast a ball of Magelight so he would come to investigate and put him within my magical range. Cast Fear and quickly realized he is immune to all my Illusion spells and after one blast of Sparks I saw his power was surely well beyond mine.
5 seconds later I was headed to the exit, I'll save you another day Thorald Gray-Mane.Comment

I've never managed to get good at archery in an Elder Scrolls game. Its always a skill I want to excel at but don't put the time in. At this point, my character is a hack n' slash tank with some destruction skills. Some of the kill animations I get are great - nothing like grabbing some bitch mage by the head and slamming her down onto my sword. "Try to shoot lightning bolts at me, you whore? Well fuck you then!"
Still, at some point, I need to put in the time to get some sniping skills.Comment
