I only use alchemy to boost my skills, I hardly use potions besides boosting my health when I am low.
I also wish I can get into the illusion, alteration, and conjuration magic but they all seem pretty useless to me besides causing random chaos.Comment

Restore Health and Restore Stamina come in handy when your bars are paper thin and need to pause and restore health without a chance of getting hit.
There has been numerous times where all Im thinking is Attack, Attack, and Attack and don't realize how bad my health is so in the process of running away, try to cast restore health and they get a critical hit on me and I die.

Im glad I went the archer route, it's way more fun sneaking around sniping people than the warrior type I made on Oblivion.Comment

Maybe I am just high, but on my little exploring adventure I entered a cave called Dead Men's Respite, and it was the coolest cave/quest yet.
Not really spoilers, but I don't know if this place has a part in quests. I do go pretty in detail about what I see towards the end.
First, I start my usual sneak w/bow into the cave and I see one of those blue/ghost guys that I think are a part of another quest I did(Companions?). I think no biggie, my 70 damage bow, 15 damage fire burn, and times 3 damage sneak attack should take him out. Nope, goes right thru him. Then I notice this guy is playing the Lute or whatever, mocking me, what a fucking jabroni. So then I move forward and he walks thru the door and I make my way into the cave lobby to do some looting and killing. And then I find a ruby gold claw. Now it is time to get some serious treasure.
Now this cave had it all, enemies were pretty simple dragurs and frost spiders, but the real challenge came with all the puzzles. There were chains that opened hidden doors and closed others. Every little stage had these little puzzles on how to get through, at one point I was travelling into a well and the sewers to find the way to the next point. And all along the way were these little chests with expert or master locks and I love the challenge of picking locks.
During this trip in the far distance right when I turn the corner sometimes I would see that blue ghost for a split second and then disappear. I was like alright man where are you taking me.
So I am working my way through this tunnel when I assume I hit the end because I am at the claw door where you match the animal in the right spot, but no it just opens up to another door that won't open because of some spell on it. Cool. Then I see another door to my right but it is expert locked. So I pick it and keep moving. I find this well, and I work down expecting more enemies, but I just see this small little room with the blue kid sitting on a rock staring right at me. I look at him and then down at a dead body. It is holding a note about Olaf and how he is wrong king or something. I take it and immediately head back to that door. And there was the blue kid, sword in hand ready to break down the door.
We go in and this is set up like the usual ending to the caves. High ceilings, open spaces and dragurs ready to be awoken. I pick most of them off with the bow, while the blue guy fights some with the sword. A real tag team duo. Then once we fight them off, out comes this monster fucker named King Olaf in the craziest ebony armor. The battle was pretty simple with the two of us just fucking his shit up. They really should've went with everything attacking at once. But we fuck him up, I take his ebony sword, pick up the second shout for the dragon sprint thing, and I look back at the blue kid as he walks into the treasury room and disappears. Open the treasure chest with the usual, couple hundred gold, potions, lame armor, and a heavy gauntlet that does 35% bow damage. So now my bow is doing 79 damage. Awesome.
I really neglected just exploring this place early on and only doing quests, but now all I enjoy doing is finding new places and clearing everybody out and collecting all the sweet stuff.Comment

having a bit of trouble with a quest in Windhelm. Not sure if this is a glitch or what
quest is called Blood on the Ice
i cant seem to advance the quest or complete the 2 objectives currently up. one says examine the crime scene and the other says get assistance from Jarleif. when i talk to Jarleif he just has his normal dialog options come up. And when i examine the crime scene there is nothing happening there. I can hit a button to do anything and there doesnt seem to be anything out of the ordinary.
Anyone know if this is a glitch or if there is something i am not doing right?Comment
