Unfortunately, along with its great success, the Elder Scrolls franchise is notorious for launching with countless technical issues. Bethesda has recently submitted the latest patch, version 1.3, to fix a small handful of issues, including those they caused with the last patch:

        General stability improvements
Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate
Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPUs (PC)
The patch is now live on Steam and Xbox 360, with the PlayStation 3 version still in the approval process.

I am so hesitant to download this new patch...I enjoy playing the game as it was a couple of days after release (shitty graphics and all). I'll do my character if I get the nerve to start up later.

Also, who here has actually 100% the Thieves Guild (i.e. gotten the final achievement where you bring it back to power)? I have been doing the shit necessary for this quest for what feels like forever and have gotten no where. It is, without a doubt, the worst questline/achievement in the game IMO.

I did the Thieves Guild resurrection quests. It wasn't so bad off the start. Once you do 5 jobs of any type in a given hold (except Riften), you get to do a special job in that hold. Once you've done that special job, taking any more assignments in that hold from Delvin or Vex doesn't help you beyond landing some gold. At first, I kept doing them regardless but I realized it would forever to finish. So when I got assigned jobs in a hold I've already done or in Riften, I'd go back and tell them I couldn't do it. They sound pissy but it doesn't affect anything beyond your stats. According to my stats, I've done -4 quests for the Thieves Guild because of that. But it worked and I got the four special assignments before too long.

Yes and no. You end up needing to do at least twenty jobs for Devlin and Vex, plus the four special jobs. It sounds like a lot but outside the special jobs, none of the stuff for Vex or Devlin took very long. You can have a job for each open at a given time, and you can shortcut by trying to have a job from each them in the same hold (take a job, see where it is, then quit it if its not the hold you want). The time spent traveling was easily the toughest part. I stuck to burglaries for Vex and ledger changes for Devlin. None took me very long at all. I guess they might get tough if you don't have much skill in Sneak or Lockpicking.

The reward for getting all four special jobs done isn't anything huge, really.
