the daedric quests are awesome, along with the assassin ones and thieves guild... I started with fire in my left hand and swords in my right, but as I started to progress through the game I found archery was a ton of fun, being stealth, leveling your sneak and archery at the same time is a real fun way to play the game, but as everybody else said, just play it however you think will make it the most fun to you, that is the best part of an RPG like this

2 handed weapons are way more badass. one nice thing about the powers is they had a creation spell for making 2 handed weapons

I played Dragonage: Origins and didn't enjoy it very much, and that is pretty much my entire history of RPG gaming. So far, I like this game more than Dragonage (a LOT more), so I'm not worried I won't enjoy the game anymore. Anyways, here's what I've done so far:

Escaped Helgen, talked to a bunch of folks in Riverwood and they gave me a few jobs (haven't done them yet, though). I found the three stones and activated the Mage one. Travelled on foot to Whiterun and got a bunch of jobs, joined the Companions, and hired Jenasssa to be my follower. Right now I'm about to explore this mine/cave to the north of Whiterun and I have to clear out the bandits and get a mammoth tusk.

So, any general tips? I've decided that I like magic but it's fun to smash dudes in the face. Is it possible to do some kind of hybrid class where I'm a mage but I can still fight up close? What is the best way of going about things?

Well since they answered your question already, if you're not into the main quest or don't want to finish the game for a while just start exploring Skyrim, read books, and talk to people so you can obtain sidequests to level up your character. It will benefit you with either gold or a new weapon, armor, ect.

All Skyrim DLC Coming to PS3 in February
Dragonborn hits PC on February 5, with all the DLC hitting PS3 sometime the same month.

It's happened. It's actually happened. Fellow gamers, Bethesda has announced that all the Skyrim DLC packs will finally arrive on the PlayStation 3 in February.

Though no firm date has been set, Bethesda president Pete Hines broke the news on Twitter that Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn will all arrive on Sony's console next month after months and months of delays.

As way of an apology, all the PS3 DLC will be discounted by 50% for the first week that it's available, so be sure to snap it up fast if it's something you're interested in.

He also announced that Dragonborn will be making its way on PC on February 5, though no pricing has been announced at this stage.

We don't think we're alone in saying that this hopefully marks a welcome end to the saga that's been going on for over a year. While the first two DLC packs for Skyrim, Dawnguard and Hearthfire, were originally only supposed to enjoy 30 days of exclusivity on Xbox 360, technical issues meant that things panned out rather differently. PC owners were kept waiting for an extended period of time, while PS3 owners still haven't received either pack despite Bethesda saying it was working hard to fix the issue.

But now, it seems, the end is at last in sight, and the discount is a nice gesture even if it does last a fairly short time. But what do you guys think? Will you be picking up the expansions for a discounted price or is it just too little too late?

Fuck me. I still have so much to do with just the standard content. I'm level 18 and I still can't wrap my head around how many missions I have available and land which I haven't discovered.

I do this too^ and I just realized the other night that I'm a Skyrim Hoarder. That's what I basically do in this game is collect all types of food, ingredients, weapons, armor, scrolls, potions, jewelry, gems, ore ect... I have thousands of those shits and I don't use any of them at all, I just hoard them in my house, and keep going back for more...I must get mooooooar!

A Polish retailer has listed Skyrim: Legendary Edition, a bundle which includes the original game and DLC expansions Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. The Ultima listings (via Eurogamer) put the collection's cost at 169.90 zł on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, near the standard $60 price point, or $50 on PC.

Ultima gives a tentative release date of June.

The Legendary Edition is par for the course as Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas each had their own "Game of the Year" style collections.

No more DLC is planned for the open-world fantasy game, so an all-in-one collection to drain stragglers of their lazy summer months sounds like just the ticket. Still, Bethesda has not announced this new package, nor has the publisher responded to our request for comment.

We'll update this story with any official word
Glad I didn't shell out for the DLC.

Question is, for a PS3 guy like me that's still weary of any future glitches/bugs that will kill my saves, will this be worth it when new stuff hits later this summer?

radiant quest system in this game. the side quests are never ending. i recommend playing through the main story, or at least 90% of it before tackling the major side quests like the guild quests.....do some side quests to help explore and level up, and do the main story....then move on the the side shit.

I guess I haven't updated you guys on my progress. I don't remember what level I am because it's been at least a month or two since I last played, but I think I'm in the low 30s now. I defeated Alduin (it was easy), ended the civil war, finished the Mage's College (not as easy), started the Dark Brotherhood, and am ADHDing between Dark Brotherhood and Solstheim for the Dragonborn DLC. That doesn't include just random time spent exploring and doing the Daedra quests (I like those).

I think that the next time I dive into this game I'll finish the primary quest from Solstheim because it's annoying to kill dragons and only get bones and scales.
