The war of words hasn't all been one-sided. Around E3 time Activision boss Bobby Kotick cast negative comments at Battlefield 3's console versions. More recently, Bobby's second-in-command Eric Hirshberg said EA's verbal assault is "bad for our industry", specifically slamming EA's management for stating that Call of Duty should "rot from the core".

Now, EA has ramped up the pressure. The company's chief spokesman Jeff Brown used trade site IndustryGamers to toss some abuse at Hirshberg. he said, "Welcome to the big leagues Eric. I know you're new in the job but someone should have told you this is an competitive industry.

"You've got every reason to be nervous. Last year Activision had a 90 share in the shooter category. This year, Battlefield 3 is going to take you down to 60 or 70. At that rate, you'll be out of the category in 2-3 years. If you don't believe me, go to the store and try to buy a copy of Guitar Hero or Tony Hawk."

Brought up a discussion with some of my friends the other day about which FPS are you buying this fall. Of course they all said CoD and really didn't know anything BF3. I'm hoping BF puts out a sick marketing campaign leading up to the release and knocks some sense into people.

It's all marketing. I mean, when you actually compare the two games it's not even a contest which is better. Like I said, it's baffling. It's like trying to understand how gay dudes can prefer butt sex over pussy. :devil:

If Activision has done one thing, its that. They have marketed the shit out of all of the COD games starting with Modern Warfare. Battlefield will certainly be the better game, but they have an uphill climb because everyone knows about COD and buys it every year.

Its to the point of Madden, whether good or bad, people will buy it and support it. EA should know a thing or two about that one.

I bought Bad Company 2 a couple of weeks ago and have played the living shit out of it. I can't believe how much I enjoy that game and how COD is like a distant memory for me. I can't wait for BF3 now.

I bought the game used for $20 and didn't play for a couple days. A buddy of mine that I've known since kindergarten was at my house and saw that I had it and said he'd been wanting to try it as well. I let him borrow it since I was playing more NCAA than anything. Anyway, I kept seeing him on PSN playing for hours on end and thought to myself, hmmm, it must be pretty decent. I couldn't get the fucker to bring it back!

I had to go over to his house and get it which then forced him to go buy it too. We've been playing it together for a week or so now and it's a great game. I'm highly impressed and looking forward to October 25th!

The first game I played I had some guy cussing the shit out of me because I wouldn't give him ammo and didn't know how. It was hilarious.
