It's a crapshoot. You can try to form a squad in the main menu from your friends list, but there's no guarantee that you'll be together when you join a game.
You can also try to join a friend if they're already in a game from the in-game friends list.Comment

I realized, only yesterday, that you could swim out to that little Island. It took a good minute to swim out there, only for us to totally run through the first MCOM stations. I spent more time swimming to and from than actually shooting from it. Dumbshit is a good name.Comment

Keep with it. I bought Bad Company 2 a few months ago having never played a game in the series. The learning curve of playing a different 'type' of shooter took me a bit to get down after having put in years on COD.
You really do need to work as a team to be successful, like others have said. Learn the ins and outs and strengths of each class. Find out what your team needs most while waiting to spawn and switch classes up if need be. If your watching a squadmate and he's pinned down or low on health, spawn on him as an assault/medic class and throw out a med kit or be ready with a defibrillator to revive him. You may be waiting to spawn and see where your entire squad is together and shooting the shit out of their guns...spawn on them as a support class and throw out some ammo. Enemy sniper fucking up your team or your tired of having to spawn away from the objective? Use the recon's ability to deploy the mobile spawnpoint in a fairly hidden area so your team can use it.
It's really a different game than COD and takes a little while to fully appreciate it. I think it gets more enjoyable every time I play it.

One other thing: It's hard to be really effective in Battlefield if all you worry about is your k/d ratio. There are so many other ways to score points and help your team win other than kills.
I just wish the beta would've chosen another map with some vehicles and buildings to use and destroy. It's what separates Battlefield from any other FPS. The engineer class is rendered mostly useless in the beta unless you just have to fuck someone in the ass with an RPG.
