This game could be awesome...or horrible. It just has so many things that I love. Zombies, first person and "quests" just to name a few. I love the fact that you can meet random NPC's and accept side quests from them or basically tell them to fuck off. Very RPG-esque.

The only problem I have with this game is Multiplayer specific trophies/Cheevos.
They're two totally different games (minus the obvious subject matter of a zombie outbreak and usage of improvised weapons to survive), but when Dead Rising 2 hit (specifically for the PS3 crowd) there was little to NO community for co-op/multiplayer.
This game isn't going to be pushed like it needs to be and I'd give it a month before the price gets cut or worse.
I'm buying this shit though because I believe in smaller market retail games more than big budget, DLs and DLC.

You can play SP or Co-Op MP, Twigg.
From what I've heard and seen, the Co-Op is drop-in/drop-out to where you can let pubbies in or maybe set private games if you hate griefers.
As for whether or not to get the 360/PS3 version... who else is getting this at VSD but you, me and BB?Comment

I didn't even know this game had multiplayer? Is it co-op or competitive? If it's co-op I'm getting it on 360. Who else is going 360? I would rather play with you Jay but I don't trust a developer like Techland to put out a better PS3 version. As far as I remember their previous games were always better on 360.Comment

8.0 from ign
CLOSING COMMENTS
Dead Island probably won't win any game of the year awards. It's got visual bugs, the controls take a bit to feel normal, and the presentation in general isn't up to snuff. But the game gets a lot right. There is a huge world to explore, thousands of zombies to kill, and tons of side quests to take. Here on the other side of a 25-hour playthrough -- where I skipped a lot of side quests after Act 1 -- I'm anxious to get back into Dead Island, and despite the game's flaws, that's not something I say often.
IGN RATINGS FOR DEAD ISLAND (PS3)
7.0 Presentation
The story is a bit flat. It's easy enough to upgrade your weapons and such, but there's no flair to the menus.
7.0 Graphics
Environments and zombies look good, but clipping and texture loading are issues. Cutscenes are stiff.
8.0 Sound
Every time I came to a new area, I'd listen for zombie action. I don't think I'll forget the cries of a zombie chasing me anytime soon. Sound cuts out every so often on PS3.
8.0 Gameplay
There are tons of quests to take, you build out your version of the character, and weapon mods keep combat interesting. The melee fighting is fun but takes getting used to.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
If you can get over the game's stumbles and appreciate what it does right, you have a long campaign with online options to try out.

I think I saw Joystiq gave it a 3/5 stars.

I have this game for steam, played an hour of it, had a blast. Me and 3 of my friends got it and with was a great experience having all 4 of us play a campaign.
These types of games are only good if you have at least 1 other person you can play with.
If youre gonna solo it, this isn't a game for you.Comment
