It's a game about debilitating the undead in new and exciting ways.
For $50, you're getting more of the game you like/love/begrudgingly accept if you've played the original...
...but if you plan on porting your character saves, just know that that snazzy electric/poisonous machete you made in D.I. DOES NOT come with you into the new game.
So if you have a Level 50 character, you'll have all your skill bonuses but you'll now face enemies leveled to you specifically but now you have to fight them off with lame Sticks and Heavy Pipes probably.Comment

Unless you really love the first one. I wouldn't get it. I loved the first one and I like this one. But so far everything is the same except there is a shit ton more zombies. And you start out at lvl 15 if you do not import your other DI. But story is good so far. I can update more as I play.

So after putting in a few hours, I'd have to agree that Riptide is basically just more Dead Island as opposed to an actual sequel.
If you're dying (no pun intended) to get more of the same zombie-mashing experience, this will more than tide you over for a while; especially if you can find people to run with.
Since the game starts you off on Level 15 if you don't import, it was nice to play as the new survivor and get access to some of the better skills right off the bat.
What's off is that if you choose to play as him, you still get access to all the weapons/gear/etc. as the original four but your character's more suited to getting up in an enemy's face as the CQC guy.
NOT recommended against the special type undead like Thugs, Rams and the Boomer ripoffs as they'll fuck you up.
If you can get access to nice weapons and guns later on (they THANKFULLY buffed the guns so they don't act like peashooters against zombies), that problem can be remedied.Comment

I agree. The guns are a lot better in this game than the last. I do like how their is a whole lot more zombies. We did find a glitch on it though. If you are playing with someone or a group. Say I opened a basket and got $25 out of it. Another group can also pick up that $25. I get it the $25 when he picks it up and he gets $25 when I pick it up. So, we really get $50 out of a $25 basket...

The first Dead Island completely lies when it says you can ram through locked doors when you max out the Tackling skill. I want my skill point back.Comment
