i agree. the entire industry is about making the next COD4 that they can copy and paste for years and continue to profit without investing in development. I guess they took their cue from madden....lolComment

This is why sports games need to take a year off. I know we all have got so use to every year our next football, baseball, hockey, etc game comes out, but in some regards, maybe that extra year would help and give them time to work on something else. The thing is, as I said, we have all got use to it, so the game they put out right before taking a 2 year break would need to be great in order to do so, or fans would get pissed.
But you could still patch the game during the time, and send out a massive roster update/patch at the start of the new season to get the missed years rosters in the game. Thing is, it isn't about making a great game, it is about making money. And why not sell 1 million games one year, and turn around and sell 1million games a year after. You miss that entire year of profit. So fuck, to make them happy, make the roster update like $15.99 and I'm sure people will get it.
I guess this is why I stopped getting so critical of the games I play because there is no point. Either I play or I don't. If I don't, I miss the enjoyment of the games I do like, which is a big reason now why I am buying a football game because I want a new one and missed playing football. Sure there are flaws, but if you get to critical of it, you may be taking it a little to seriously. All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

Grass looks nice in replays, but it's non-existent in actual game play.
Fuck Trent Richardson.
I will have fun with this game.Comment

Trent Richardson has the same break tackle rating as Denard Robinson.
Something isn't right thereComment

I'm going to get it but most likely wait a month out after release. By then a good set of rosters, sliders, and even a sale price will be out. If Amazon comes out of nowhere and offers $20 credit and free release date delivery, I will get it on the 12th.Comment

There may not be any optimal time to tell gamers about all the microtransactions and DLC for which they can expect to pay extra in an upcoming release. But the official reveal of a game's main features - the stuff folks expect to come with the $59.99 retail price - would probably be the least optimal.
Just wondering if this is true or not. Was late to this thread and going back 50+ pages is a bitch. All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

Pretty standard operating procedure for them, they are really obnoxious when it comes to DLC with their football games. People will buy anyway though so EA wins.Comment

Yes it is true. EA decided to make the new online dynasty features this year paid DLC. They also decided to withhold some uniforms for the game and make it a gamestop pre-order bonus.

The one thing that amazes me about NCAA/Madden is how you'll see so many impressions that start with: "this demo is average/bad/same old same old" and end with "don't get me wrong I'm still gonna go buy it."
They really got it made with those exclusive licenses. Like at this point people are conditioned to settle for a mediocre game every year.
I saw one guy who said "I don't like the gameplay but I'm just buying it for coaching carousel and custom playbooks." Proof EA doesn't need to work on gameplay and instead just add more back of the box features.Comment

i like how in the game they show off the new features. the new college atmosphere ect ect...same shit they been saying for years.
i also love the new tacked on cut scenes for the pre game. It all feels so lifeless.
the gameplay itself was pretty much the same as always...which is weak.
i have zero interest in this game. waiting out that contract is no longer a big deal. sports games are so bottom of the barrel these days
Madden 2002's sim engine is still better than anything we have seen since.Comment

Taking a year off wouldn't give them extra time. They've been working on this game for five years now. That's the way you have to look at it, NCAA 12 has 5 years worth of development time into it. Once a title is released, they take a couple months off and get back to work on the next release. So, if this is still the same core engine, then 5 years is plenty time to produce a solid product.Comment

True, there's no pressure on them to do anything big. But, even before there wasn't competition it was the same. People would buy Madden regardless. That's why EA is in the position they are now. Personally I still have APF to go to, so if NCAA sucks I'm fine. APF lobbies are still active, and it may be slightly generic, but with so many different ways to make a team, and schemes to play, it still hasn't gotten old.Comment
