    More on the DLC:

For the asking price of $0, DLC #1 will offer "new test chambers for players, leaderboards, challenge mode for single and multiplayer modes, and more."
Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.

    Still no official date.

Now, something that I'm curious about, what's going to happen with the second and any subsequent pieces of DLC? Will they be PC/PS3 exclusive considering MS's policy on only one free piece of DLC per game? Or will Valve relent and allow MS to charge for it?

One of the many reasons I refer to them as M$. That shit pisses me off. They refuse to allow mods and they basically refuse companies to offer free DLC. Fucking bullshit.

I would absolutely LOVE to see Valve make any additional DLC free and exclusive to PC/PS3. It would be such a 'fuck you' to M$ and their bullshit policies.

not trying to start a flamewar here, but... you could just play games on a pc, where everything is free, especially games like portal you'll finish and never play again.

          just sayin

            Yet another update on deals:

-Amazon has price matched everything I listed in my last post ($35 for consoles, $30 for PC) for the Deal of the Day. However, the PS3 version appears to be out of stock for the moment.

Assuming you mean piracy, there's almost no need for it on PC if you have access to the ridiculous deals that pop up on Steam, Direct2Drive, etc.

That aside, it might not be easy for the average gamer to make the leap from consoles to PC once you consider the time and cost required to either research the components to build a PC and the often inflated price of pre-built PCs.

The singleplayer alone is at least that long. Co-op is supposed to be the same length. So you're looking at a game that's at least 14 hours total.

Assuming you have somebody to play co-op with, that is.

Does it have matchmaking? I haven't checked TBH.

Some interesting info about the Potato ARG and the release of Portal 2 on PC. Apparently, Valve intended to release it for those who pre-ordered on Steam the Friday before the 19th. However, EA stepped in and prevented Valve from doing so. Then Valve went to the secondary countdown that led to unlocking the game only a few hours before it's official release.

Might pick this up sometime this week if the GameStop deal is still going on. I have quite a bit of in-store credit there so why not.

Steam. I kind of wish I'd gone PS3, but I paid $45 for it, which I felt was a good price. Plus I then spent hours on the Potato ARG. If you get it on PC (or Mac, I think they can interconnect), I'll do the coop with you

The NYU Game Center posted a two hour presentation/lecture/discussion from Erik Wolpaw about Portal 2, Valve's culture and game development. Note: there are spoilers and plot points for the singleplayer portion of the game contained in the video.
